The Sundarbans Tiger Project, affiliated with the Zoological Society of London and part of the Wildlife Trust of Bangladesh, is looking for a bright, energetic and passionate individual to join the team for a year.
You will be based in Dhaka, Bangladesh, with some field visits to the Sundarbans forest, working in the strategic partnerships department as a grants administrator. Tasks include:
• Working with project managers and experts to develop project log frames and budgets
• Maintaining files and records to support legal and financial administration
• On going desk based research to identify appropriate donors based on project priorities
• Monitoring grant cash flow to ensure funding is received on time and priority projects are supported
• Writing reports to donors outlining project activities and financial reporting
• Acting as a point of contact for a range of Trust, Statutory and Institutional donors
• On going financial and other fundraising administration as and when required
This role is an exceptional opportunity for a Masters graduate in a conservation/science related field looking to either gain direct conservation experience, or to explore conservation as a future career. Working with Trusts, Statutory and Institutional donors, you will be required to work in the heart of the organisation, gaining exposure to project management; research; policy and regulation; communications and of course grants fundraising (a pre-requisite skill for any future conservationist). The role may also suit a business student looking to take the first step into fundraising.
The Sundarbans Tiger Project employs over 70 people and works to protect between 300 – 500 Bengal tigers residing in the Sundarbans – a UNESCO World Heritage Site. At the end of the contract, there maybe opportunities to move into other conservation units such as communications or research.
