Operations Geologist
Impala - Rustenburg

The ideal candidate will meet the following requirements:
- A BSc Geology (Hons) degree is essential
- A minimum of one year's underground mining experience is essential. Bushveld geology experience will be advantageous
- Appropriate registration with SACNASP/GSSA will be beneficial
- Good communication and report-writing skills
- Computer literacy is essential (MS Office), with technical skills and experience in geological software programmes (SABLE, CadsMine) and mineral reserve management being a definite advantage
- A valid code EB driver’s licence with own transport
- A valid medical certificate or medically fit in order to obtain such a certificate.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Scientifically identifying, mapping, projecting and interpreting the impact of geological structural features on underground mining operations
- Compiling and maintaining electronic geological structural and mineral reserve models using Micro-Station/Cadsmine and G-Blocks and
- Boundaries (MRM) (Inclusive of forecast updates)
- Providing professional advice and integrated communication to Production and other mining disciplines for present and future mining operations
- Ensuring optimal orebody exploitation within the realms of critical aspects such as safety and economics. This requires the management of geological data in a proactive manner
- Effectively managing core drilling operations, which include borehole logging, sampling and electronic capturing of data
- Guiding and managing all aspects of the geological function on an operating unit, inclusive of managing diamond drilling contractors effectively
- Compiling standardised geological reports for communication purposes to Management
- Participating in and providing full support to all mine-wide initiatives for the purposes of safe, cost-effective, optimal mining operations.
