Programme Managers £32,733 gross per annum Payment pro-rata upon deployment. No retainers paid. Emergency Roster
Do you want to make a difference to older people in emergencies?
Older people are largely neglected in humanitarian crises and disasters. They constitute a significant and growing number of affected populations: about 12.5% of the world’s population is aged 60 or over and the numbers are rising steeply with demographic change. Responding to the needs of older people in emergencies is a critical and pressing humanitarian agenda.
HelpAge International is the only global organisation that focuses on the needs and capacities of older people in emergencies. It maintains an emergency roster of individuals with specific skill sets, who can be called upon at short notice to be deployed overseas on short-term contracts to support our emergency response efforts. The speed and length of deployment will depend on a number of variables, including the urgency of deployment, the location of the emergency and the availability of longer term staff. Deployments are remunerated in line with HelpAge’s usual international salary scale and benefits package, and in between deployments, HelpAge would stay in regular contact with you, keeping you updated on our ongoing emergency work.
This is an exciting opportunity for Programme Managers to join our roster. The key responsibilities of a Programme Manager will include the implementation, management and administration of all aspects of the response programme. You will develop and oversee the programme budget, all aspects of programme staff management and provide regular situation reports and narrative and financial reports. You will ensure effective collaboration with and support to HelpAge’s local partner organisations.
Applicants for this roster role must have extensive experience of programme management in a humanitarian context, including the ability to effectively manage resources, finances and personnel information. To be successful in this role you will have superb analytical skills, capacity building skills and outstanding communication skills are essential for this role. French language skills are an advantage but not essential.
