This staff position is an exciting opportunity to live and work in Gulu, Uganda and love on the children in our Rescue Home. Our Rescue Home is for girls rescued from child prostitution, danger of sexual exploitation, or child slavery.
Currently we have 16 children ages 5-14 and 3 staff at our Rescue Home.
Your job would be to manage the Rescue Home, including supporting and training staff, mothering our children, developing materials/teachings which contribute to the emotional, spiritual, and educational development of our kids, and ensuring that there is an environment of love and the Kingdom in all that we do. Will report to Country Director.
Overall Program Details
All Uganda-based positions are full time. Time commitment is 2 years depending on availability. A commitment to a 40-50 hour work week. Could be for an individual or couple.
A stipend of $400 will be paid per month. Guest home accomodation will also be provided.
Responsibilities:
• To run and manage our home concerning day to day decisions, finances, food usage,
accountability, tracking & reporting, and monitoring of other staff/volunteers. To support local staff as a spiritual mentor and train them up to be Kingdom carriers
• To love all our children and impart the Father's heart to them & to care for their overall wellbeing
• To create systems for behavioral improvement, discipline, rewards and implement with staff
• To create a fun, educational, peaceful learning environment for children
• To introduce children to Jesus and encourage a personal relationship with Him
• To manage home programs including scheduling, planning, devotions, worship, tutoring, purity talks, unity, staff meetings, etc
• To prepare age-appropriate teaching materials, games, and activities for children and to train staff how to do the same
• To lead worship, devotions, and prayer times with children
• To help in our home licensing process
• To help identify new girls for home
• To deal with medical issues of children
• To weekly track and report on behaviors, emotional stability, spiritual growth, medical, and school performance of all children & prepare reports on children's progress and update profiles and pictures
• To attend weekly Staff meetings on Mondays and come prepared with weekly
reports/testimonies and plans for the upcoming week
• To delegate tasks to Rescue Home staff and monitor their performance and do evaluations
• To handle finances with accountability in order to purchase needed items for the home and keep a ledger of finances spent as well as receipts
• To prepare videos on children's achievements to share with donors
• To monitor our Child Sponsorship Program
• To report to Country Director on issues, concerns, achievements of Rescue Home
• To deal with conflict resolution and make sure the rules are followed and girls are forgiving and loving each other, staff is working in unity, and things are flowing smoothly
• To assist any volunteers who come over and make sure they are comfortable and have their work clearly defined
Critical Skills Needed:
• College Graduate
• Mature, Christian faith; led by Holy Spirit
• Experience living in the Developing world/missions
- Completion of a Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry, Iris School of Missions, or Catch the Fire Leadership School
- Well-versed and have experience in inner healing, counseling, theophostic prayer/and or other methods of Christian counseling
• Understanding of Kingdom principles and Father heart of God
• Experience in parenting/leading children; love and passion for children
• 1-2 years experience in Managing people/teams
• Love of Children & ability to relate well with children
• Flexible, Adaptable, Resilient: able to persevere with joy in the face of challenges
