MAG is seeking a Country Director to lead its programme in Sudan, where MAG has been working since 2006. You’ll be rewarded with the opportunity to contribute to the rehabilitation of communities devastated by conflict, working in a developing and diverse programme.
MAG Sudan has made significant progress in reducing the impact of landmines and explosive remnants of war, which has included the release of 3,091,841m² of land back to local communities, who are expected to use this land for predominantly agricultural purposes. In addition, cleared land has also allowed access for development agencies and local government to access areas to provide basic services to local populations. MAG Sudan is also working steadily to build the organisational and operational capacity of JASMAR, a Sudanese NGO, with the overall aim of handing over primary responsibility for this work to them.
You don’t need previous experience in mine action and we welcome applications from experienced managers from any development sector.
This role will provide you with the opportunity to use your management skills, leading a large team of international and national staff operating across geographically diverse and challenging environments. You will also have the opportunity to use your skills in business development, managing a number of different projects and further developing MAG’s work and profile in the region.
The successful candidate will also need experience in developing successful relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and be able to use their diplomacy skills within complicated political frameworks.
The Country Director will be based in Khartoum, with travel to MAG’s operational bases.
The total salary package for this position is approximately $66,485 - $72,229 USD* including basic salary, programme management allowance, hardship allowance and per diem.
