II. Country Profile
Capital Office : Juba With the creation of the Republic of South Sudan on 9 July 2011, 2012 is a critical year for recovery and development throughout the country. In South Sudan, important work to improve basic access to services is still needed in many parts of the world’s youngest country. Approximately 600,000 returnees, mostly Southerners returning to the region from Northern Sudan are expected throughout 2011. In addition to continuing to improve access to basic water and sanitation services, ACTED focuses on supporting the sustainable reintegration of these communities, through emergency support during the immediate return process, and long term livelihoods support in both rural and urban areas. With high needs and new opportunities for collaboration with a burgeoning government and private sector, ACTED should significantly expand its intervention in South Sudan.
III. Position Profile
The Therapeutic Feeding Center Manager will be responsible for the overall planning and implementation of a nutrition programme as well as for the assessment of the situation in the refugee camps.
Specific Duties:
To set up the Therapeutic Feeding Centers (logistics: basic rehabilitation and equipment of the Therapeutic Feeding Centers; co-ordination and supervision of SFCs and TFCs) To implement Therapeutic Feeding Programmes Training ACTED national staff and local NGOs on TFCs and SFCs, assessment, malnutrition treatment and follow-up, referral system Provide education on nutrition and hygiene To meet with local Health Personnel, UN agencies and NGOs in the area in order to assess how the ACTED programme contributed to the overall programming To set up data collection, monitoring and evaluation systems to organize regular evaluations and provide regular reports as well as a nutrition surveillance system including details of food security To co-ordinate ACTED food distribution and food security activities
To produce a final nutrition survey as well as an evaluation report with assessment of impact, effectiveness and efficiency of the feeding programmes as a whole, including recommendations for future interventions
IV. Qualifications:
The qualified candidate will possess a minimum of 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in a developing country (preferably Africa) Knowledge of Health Care, Nutrition and therapeutic and supplementary feeding projects required Project management experience (management, planning, staff development and training skills) Strong negotiation, organizational, supervisory and interpersonal skills, and flexibility in cultural and organizational terms Ability to work well and punctually under pressure
V. Conditions:
- Salary defined by the ACTED salary grid; educational level, expertise, hardship, security, and performance are considered for pay bonus
