QGC is a leading Australian coal seam gas explorer and producer focused on supplying cleaner hydrocarbon energy to growing domestic and international markets.

We are establishing Queensland Curtis LNG, a world-first project to turn reserves of natural coal seam gas in the Surat and Bowen basins in Queensland into liquefied natural gas (LNG) – a carbon efficient fuel.

QGC, which is wholly owned by the British energy company BG Group, employs more than 4,300 staff and contractors.
Position Summary

The purpose of the role is to effectively supply a range of high level commercial, business, administrative, HR and stakeholder management services to the Manager and staff of Condamine Power Station.

Key Accountabilities

Position Specific
• Contribute to establishment of power station by:
o Developing Site Based Management Plans and/or power station standing instructions for assigned area of responsibility
o EPC contractor and Owners engineer interactions as required
• Assist Manager with business strategy development and positioning of power station
• In collaboration with Station Manager, prepare annual operating budget and business plan to achieve the commercial goals of Condamine Power Station
• Monitor the budget and accounting personnel, investigate variations and advise the Station Manager on appropriate actions to ensure the budget targets are met. Support all members of station staff to understand and achieve budget outcomes
• Provide contract administration service and expertise within the station
• Support procurement and warehousing activity on site
• Administer major contracts including the Long Term Service Agreement, the Connection and Access Agreement and work with the Traders for the sale of electricity
• Prepare and administer contracts for on-going work associated with infrastructure management, such as office cleaning, security services and rubbish removal. Supervise the administration personnel and prepare and administer one-off contracts maintenance
• Support a safety culture to target zero incidents
• Provide and administer systems for monitoring power station performance and report results daily and monthly to the Station Manager
• Prepare monthly station reports for the Station Manager covering all aspects of technical, financial and human performance of CPS
• Assist the QGC Human Resource Advisor in managing the on-site HR Services. This role includes training and development of employees, recruitment activities for any vacant positions, ensuring position descriptions and scorecards remain current and supporting the Station Manager in IR matters. Identify and develop retention strategies and seek to improve employment conditions to meet needs of the business
• Contribute to and implement succession plans for key staff positions
• Support career aspirations of CPS staff
• Assist the Market Trading Manager in effectively supplying data and power to enable the CPS energy obligations for electricity and gas sales
• Deliver discrete commercial and capital projects as assigned
• Build commercial capacity of all production technicians through active coaching and mentoring
• Support CPS’ relationship with the community and manage key stakeholder relationships such as with local government

People Management
• The incumbent must adhere to the annual HR cycle and meet deadlines within the appropriate timeframes

Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute
• Previous experience in a Senior Management position within an operating power station
• High level of power station industry knowledge
• Demonstrated experience managing, coaching and developing staff in a team environment
• Demonstrated experience developing operating procedures, work and resource plans and schedules
• Awareness of environmental health and safety legislation and Australian Standards as applicable to the operation and maintenance of a power station. knowledge of relevant Acts & Regulations
• Expertise in using systems such Job Safety Analysis, ability to train staff and undertake site safety inductions
• Competent to administer contracts
• Developing negotiation skills
Knowledge, Languages, Skills and Attributes
• Tertiary qualifications in legal, commercial or relevant discipline and membership of appropriate professional body are desirable
• Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment or equivalent desirable
• Demonstrated competency to provide services to power station operations
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent time management skills
• Commitment to safety
• Ability to use initiative and find solutions to complex technical problems
• Flexible approach to work and ability to work outside the scope of the position where required
• Experienced commercial professional who demonstrates mastery of discipline, provides specialist advice and has a proven track record of delivery and value adding
• Excellent analytical, negotiating and influencing skills at all levels
• Superior drafting skills
• Competence at policy development
