Christian Aid is looking for a Senior Programme officer, a country level position for its Programme Partnership Arrangement (PPA) and other donor funded programmes. The role is part of the Zimbabwe programme team. The role holder will directly manage and support partner programmes and externally represent Christian Aid in the area of value chain and market development and lead on ensuring compliance to PPA requirements. In addition, the post holder will provide technical guidance and support to other programme staff and partners and especially ensure that monitoring, evaluation and programme reporting for value chain and market development are carried out in accordance with Christian Aid’s and donor requirements. This post is key in supporting staff, partners and programmes on market and value chain development. The position is also key to contributing to the development of Christian Aid policy and strategy on working with private sector.
The post is also responsible for working closely with partners managing large or complex partnerships or programmes focusing on value chain and market development, working with a high performing team with strong links between partner work and advocacy, communications and fundraising roles in the UK. This will also include contact with institutional donors and also with supporters through direct fundraising.
Candidates need to have a degree in a development-related discipline, with substantial and extensive programme management experience, skills and knowledge on: markets and value chain development, understanding the partnership approach to development, familiarity with programme cycle management approaches and tools, familiarity with project negotiation, appraisal and evaluation, documentation, networking and advocacy. Private sector experience is an added advantage. Other essentials are excellent writing skills in English, as well as IT skills and ability to communicate effectively in English and other local languages, including Ndebele and or Shona. This is a fixed-term contract for up to three years, depending on funding, to start as soon as possible after interviews.
