The World Bank Group's Investment Climate Department (CIC) assists governments of developing countries and transition economies in reforming their business environments, with emphasis on regulatory simplification and investment generation. As one of CIC's core products, the Trade Logistics product focuses on helping developing economies in improving performance indicators such as time and cost to import and export through targeted technical assistance on simplifying and harmonizing trade procedures including documentation, risk management in inspections and border control, automation of trade transactions, as well as related polices and regulations and their enforcement.
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual with significant relevant experience in the area of trade facilitation, logistics and management of country programs with solid academic training and concrete relevant work experience to help strengthen global Trade Logistics projects and activities.
Selection criteria will include: Advanced degree in economics, public policy, business economics, or equivalent. At least 8-12 years of experience in trade-related fields and/or experience in trade facilitation and trade logistics would be preferred.
The selected candidate would have proven ability to conceptualize, design and implement major projects. S/he would have demonstrated understanding and experience of substantive issues in international development, with emphasis on regulatory and institutional economics related to trade facilitation. Direct experience working on improving trade facilitation systems and services is highly desired and demonstrated record of innovative and strategic advisory work on public policy/regulatory reform is highly preferred. S/he would also have well-developed interpersonal and teamwork skills; ability to operate effectively as a task leader and member; initiative, persistence and a positive attitude. Excellent verbal communication and writing skills are required. Experience working in Europe and Central Asia is desirable. S/he should be willing to travel internationally.
