The U.S. Embassy in Beijing is seeking an individual for the position of Property and Supply Assistant in the General Services Office (GSO).
BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
Incumbent reports directly to the General Services Officer for Property and Supply (GSO/Property). Incumbent acts as a watchdog for the make-ready and furniture life-cycle replacement processes, liaising with the CLO, sponsors and incoming tenants to make sure new residences are ready for occupancy on time. Acts as a customer-service representative for tenants, informing the Property and Housing sections of issues and proposing solutions. Acts as GSO/Property Officer when the Property GSO is away. Plans and executes non-secure annual inventories. Manages furniture installation projects. Provides oversight of contractors and disposal actions.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Education:
- Completion of two years of college study in business, management, one of the social sciences, or other related liberal arts areas is required.
Experience:
- A minimum of three years of prior work experience in an office setting dealing with customer service and/or project management, preferably in an embassy, in addition to one year of managerial/supervisory experience is required.
Language:
- Level IV (Fluent) speaking/reading/writing in English and Level I (Rudimentary Knowledge) spoken Mandarin Chinese are required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Must be proficient in computer applications, including MS Excel, MS Word, and Outlook.
- Must have good interpersonal and organizational skills, as well as the ability to effectively work with people from different organizational levels and different cultural backgrounds.
- Must be able to analyze data and develop conclusions and recommendations.
SELECTION PROCESS
When equally qualified, U.S. Citizen Eligible Family Members (US EFMs) and U.S. Veterans who are legally residing in country will be given preference. Therefore, it is essential that the candidate specifically address the required qualifications above in the application.
