ICANN has an exciting new opportunity for a Stakeholder Engagement Coordinator, Middle East. This position reports to ICANN’s Vice President, Stakeholder Engagement, Middle East and will assist in coordinating ICANN’s engagement with regional stakeholders including governments, private sector, civil society, technical community and academia. He/she will also develop and draft position papers and outreach materials to be used in furtherance of the Global Stakeholder Engagement team’s mission and objectives in the Middle East. Finally, he/she will manage projects implemented as part of the ICANN engagement strategy in region, and will be expected to travel extensively in the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the organization’s engagement in region with all stakeholders, including governments, private sector, civil society, technical community and academia.
- Work with regional stakeholders to enhance engagement and participation.
- Monitor, identify and analyze Internet-related developments, public policy issues and trends, and impact on strategy in region.
- Draft reports, position papers and communications for internal and external use.
- Lead on implementing ICANN’s engagement strategy in region.
- Other duties as assigned or requested.
- Ability to read, write and converse in both English and Arabic at a level sufficient to conduct job-related business transactions, knowledge of French would be a plus.
- Knowledge of the Internet, Domain Name System and multi-stakeholder approach to Internet governance, and related public policy issues.
- Understanding and working knowledge of region and its cultural differences and political dynamics.
- Strong project management skills, ability to effectively manage multiple projects with overlapping tasks.
- Ability to communicate complex and often controversial information, concepts, policies and positions, both verbally and in writing, to internal and external audiences.
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with people in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.
- Ability to work independently, self-motivated.
- Ability to work in globally distributed organization.
- Prior international experience strongly preferred.
- 5+ years working in a regional, business and/or multi-stakeholder environment and demonstrated experience in the international arena.
- Advanced degree in international relations, policy, law, international business and/or an appropriate technical qualification required.
