The World Economic Forum’s Membership Team establishes and manages the strategic engagement of business community in relevant Forum initiatives and events.
As Senior Community Manager for Africa, you will:
• Establish and maintain close, collaborative working relationships with the World Economic Forum’s stakeholders from the business sector in sub-Saharan Africa.
• Grow the number of Forum Members from Africa and increase the active involvement of existing Members.
• Assist in developing a compelling and sustainable regional value proposition for the African regional Partner community.
Responsibilities include focusing membership development and engagement efforts on targeted African regions, including West and East Africa. Based from Geneva, you will travel actively across the African region to maintain and build professional institutional relationships between the World Economic Forum and its membership community's CEO's and Chairpersons in Africa. You will work closely with the broader Africa Team internally to ensure that a collaborative multistakeholder value proposition pursued.
You will collaborate with the Head of the African Membership Team in developing a strong value proposition for World Economic Forum Members. The success of your role requires the careful monitoring and evaluation of African and global business, economic and political environments, and their consequences for African business stakeholders and for the Forum’s overall strategy on the continent.
You possess a broad academic background with a university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in business, economics or international relations with a minimum of five years of work experience within or relating to the African business environment. You have excellent knowledge of African business, politics and culture with a proven interest in global affairs and have the ability to connect effectively with chief executives, chairpersons and board-level executives. You possess excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and ideally in French. You are willing to work in a small, entrepreneurial team within a strong business development environment. You will be results-oriented and able to take initiative.
