URC"is currently implementing a project to improve the diagnosis and management of febrile illness in children under the age of five years now known as the "Tibu Homa Project" in the Lake Zone- Tanzania. This is a 5 year project effective April 2011 and addressing a major public health problem-the differential diagnosis and management of fever in children. URC is seeking to recruit a Regional Coordinator for Shinyanga/Simiyu Region.
Basic Requirements:
URC is looking for a team worker experienced in implementing and lor managing newborn and child health programs including community-case management.
The applicant should have a track record in working to improve planning, management, and budgeting of community health services; experience in management and use of data to improve health programs; experience in working with the Ministry of Health, multinational partners and international and local NGOs. Experience in quality improvement and in management is important.
Clinical expertise in malaria and pediatric medicine is preferred.
The position:
The successful candidate will report to the Tibu Homa Technical Director and will coordinate and oversee the regional level planning, implementation and evaluation of Tibu Homa program activities in the region. A key role will be to lead the Tibu Homa regional team of all subordinate staff in the region to ensure smooth implementation of project activities and to coordinate activities with the Regional and Council Health Management Teams and other development partners at the regional level. He/She will provide technical and administrative support to the Tibu Homa regional team and help improve the technical and management capacity of the regional and council health management teams.
