Shukuru is seeking a highly qualified and dynamic professional to lead the local Tanzanian team, under the direct supervision of the Executive Director. The Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and participating in the execution of all program activities, monitoring performance, supervising field staff, and ensuring that program goals are executed and met. May also supervise common support services (e.g.: office space, budget management, and back office admin). A minimum of one-year commitment is required.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
•Manage and coordinate the day-to-day program activities to ensure steady progress towards clearly identified goals
• Coordinate the successful achievement of critical program deliverables and the documentation (internal reporting and grant reporting) of all work
•Refine and manage the implementation of monitoring and evaluation systems to measure the effectiveness of the project and to identify areas of improvement
•Monitor all financial transactions, record keeping, and financial reporting
•Maintain positive relationships and effective communication with program staff, local Tanzanian government officials and Shukuru senior management
• Report progress to the ED on a regular basis
•Provide strategic direction for future programing
•Ability to lift 25kg.
REQUIREMENTS
•A passion and knowledge of Shukuru’s mission and its values
•Fluency in English and Kiswahili - written and verbal
•Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, E-communications)
•University-level education, or equivalent experience in animal husbandry, international development, business management or related field
•At least 2-4 years related work experience
•Creative, entrepreneurial and resourceful approach to developing and implementing innovative solutions
•Demonstrated skills in program development, report writing and grants management
•Proven ability to produce deliverables within given deadlines
•Strong attention to detail
•Must be comfortable with the handling of chickens
•Positive team-work attitude, and respect for both local cultures and diverse teams
DESIRED SKILLS
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Swahili
•Demonstrated ability to build and lead a diverse team
•Demonstrated experience in value chain and enterprise development
• Demonstrated ability to cultivate and retain customers in Regional market
• Demonstrated proficiency in animal husbandry, specifically poultry rearing
