quality health services—from contraception and maternal care to HIV prevention
and AIDS care – through a series of integrated projects. Pathfinder strives to

Pathfinder is seeking highly motivated and self-driven staff to
join a dynamic team to implement an integrated Population, Health and
Environmental (PHE) project known as Tuungane
(Let’s unite!). Tuungane project is a collaborative initiative by three
international NGOs; namely Pathfinder International (PI), The Nature
Conservancy (TNC) and Frankfurt Zoological Society (FZS) working with local
Government and Communities in Kigoma Rural district to improve access to
primary and reproductive health care as well as protecting the natural
resources that sustain peoples’ lives and livelihoods.
COMMUNITY HEALTH OFFICER
Position Title: Community Health Officer

Key
Tasks:
·
Ensure integration of
Population, Health and Environmental (PHE) activities of the Tuungane project
·
Supervise Community Health Workers in the project
villages so as to ensure monthly health reports
are collected and submitted to in
charge of village health facilities
·
Conduct on job training to
the Community Health Workers
·
Compile monthly health
reports based on the work of the Community Health Workers and own activities as
stipulated in the work plan and submits to the Health Technical Lead
·
Conducts visits/inspections
to the social marketing kiosks/shops for Condoms and water treatment methods on
monthly basis to monitor stocks
·
Collaborate with Health
facility in charge/health officer/health village committees to conduct regular
inspections in regard to water sources, general sanitation of the communitites
and institute corresponding measures
·
Conduct awareness meetings and training
to Village, religious leaders and other influential members of the
communities; BMU members and other target groups e.g. women groups, young
adults on issues in relation to FP/reproductive health/ water and sanitation
·
Organise campaigns on family
planning; critical WASH practices; diarrhoeal diseases; nutrition;
breastfeeding in collaboration with village governments and health staff in
charge of facilties.
·
Conduct awareness meeting
and trainings on adolecsent Sexual Reproductive Health to youth in and out of
school and advocates for healthy timing and spacing of pregnancies
·
Maintain good work
relationship with communities, community
leaders and other key project stakeholders at all levels of the project
implementation
·
Perform any other duties as may be directed by
Health Technical Lead
QUALIFICATIONS
AND EXPERIENCE:
·
Certificate or Diploma or
higher qualification in Community Health
·
Conversant with sexual,
reproductive health and able to carry out counseling work in relation to Family
Planning methods/issues
·
Knowledge of Community
Hygiene and Sanitation /WASH
·
Capable of carrying out
Advocacy work in villages /Community mobilisation to achieve total behaviour
change cutting across all age groups and gender
·
Public Health Nurses will be
considered
