Major Tasks
• Responsibility for the day-to-day running of the GEL
• Collect, select and upload documents on the GEL
• Recruit, train and coordinate the work of the team submitters / reviewers team and control the quality of the submissions and reviews
• Coordinate and advise partner institutions and individuals worldwide in their use of the digital library and in cooperating with Globethics.net
• Negotiate with publishers on import solutions for e-books and e-journals
• Support training for specific groups of library users in developing countries
• Contribute to the strategic planning for the continuing development of the Globethics.net librar-ies together with other library programme executives
• Represent and market the GEL at relevant events
• Report to the Executive Director of Globethics.net and collaborate with the Globethics.net team at Head Office and in the regions and with the Board of Foundation
Qualifications
• University degree in library and information sciences (Bachelor or Master or Advanced stud-ies) with special knowledge of online libraries
• University degree in ethics (Bachelor or Master or Advanced Studies) is an asset
• Broad interest in ethics
• Very good command of spoken and written English, good command of at least one other language (e.g. French, German, Spanish, etc)
• Professional experience in the related fields is an asset
• Willingness to network on a global level with individuals and institutions in the field of ethics
• Interest and ease in electronic networking and webmaster duties
• Independent and precise work
• Proper understanding of Open Access global developments
• Interest in the general developments in the field of library sciences and especially online libraries.
Location: The Globethics.net Head Office is located in Geneva, Switzerland.
Starting date: 1 January 2013, or by agreement.
