Face the Future
Ecosystems, and forests in particular, are under a lot of pressure. Conservation (or sustainable management) cannot financially compete with conversion, resulting in a further decline of ecosystems.
This will inevitably lead to an economic shift in which ecosystem services are valued (and eventually priced) in order to create strong incentives to sustainably manage ecosystems.
The mission of Face the future is to rehabilitate and conserve ecosystems (primarily forests) that provide crucial ecosystems, by developing projects that result in assets.
(assets are: carbon credits, timber, biodiversity/water credits etc.)
Face the Future is founded in 1990 with the objective to mitigate climate change by reforestation and forest conservation projects. She is one of the global pioneers in the area of forest carbon projects. As a result driven organisation Face the Future specialises in:
• Development of afforestation/reforestation projects and forest conservation (REDD) projects
• Generation of carbon credits from these projects
• Sustainable forest management, combining carbon revenues with other forest related revenue streams
Face the Future works with several partners worldwide on the development and management of forest (carbon) projects. The projects Face the Future participates in have a strong variety (VCS, conservation, FSC, sustainable timber) but have sustainability as common ground.
