Health & Nutrition Advisor
The primary purpose of this position is to develop an appropriate Health and Nutrition Development plan which will seek to help the mine and the community as a whole to have a good health conditions. With this position Rio Tinto will be able to work with the Health Department, community leaders, Community Based Organizations, NGO´s and other private companies to develop standard health and nutrition projects, and also will be able to raise the people awareness regarding the nutrition, HIV&AIDS, Malaria and other endemic diseases that hinder the socio-economic development.
Key Objectives
responsible for the planning and implementation of a number of Health and Nutrition projects, and most of them aligned to other thematic areas such as Agriculture and Food security, Water and Sanitation, Income Generating and SME and Education, Sport and culture.
- Assess the health and nutrition education needs of the District and coordinate/integrate nutrition education with the District curriculum.
- Develop, select, and make teaching aids and resource materials for classroom nutrition education and other group nutrition education activities.
- Promote the production of educational resource materials and coordinate their distribution.
- Serve as a community resource in the area of health and nutrition education to parents, students, health service and other civic groups.
- Assist in the development, coordination and production of teaching materials.
- Conduct nutrition education classes at all levels for all schools.
- Plan and implement projects that will promote nutrition education classes at all levels for all schools and woman community groups in the project areas.
- Liaise with education department to develop and conduct training courses for school teachers regarding nutrition education and nutrition related topics.
- Liaise with health department and community leaders to create and capacity building of Community Health and Nutrition Initiative Committee.
- Plan and implement Community HIV&AIDS and Malaria programs according to Rio Tint SHE standards
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's in Public Health or related subjects
- Experience in Health nutrition programs
- Experience in Malaria and HIV&AIDS programs
- The ideal candidate has experience working with communities affected by mining projects
- Experience in working with communities and capacity to transmit basic scientific knowledge
- Portuguese and English speaking, writing and reading are essential, and should be skilled in project proposal writing and reporting and preparation of plans
- Well developed presentation and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate and encourage learning to diverse groups using diverse methods
