National Union of Disabled Persons of Uganda (NUDIPU) is an indigenous umbrella NGO of disabled person's in Uganda. NUDIPU with the support of the Danish partner organization - Disabled Peoples Organization Denmark (DPOD) is implementing a two year livelihoods project targeting the Districts of Gulu Amuru,Kitgum and Pader. The Project has regional office in Gulu on Plot 5, Ogwal Abwang Road Pece Pawel Central.
The Projects development objective; is to uplift the social and economic wellbeing of PWDs in the target Districts. The Program focuses on Advocacy to influence mainstreaming of the disability concerns in the mainstream Recovery and Development Programs for Government and Humanitarian organizations, facilitation of mobilization and capacity building of disability structures at District and Sub-county levels, improving the subsistence and livelihood opportunities of PWDs. HIV/AIDs mainstreaming, Gender and youth focused activities plus influencing rehabilitation of children and sensitization of parents of children with disabilities. NUDIPU thus seeks to recruit a suitably qualified Ugandan not below 26years to work on this project as Program Assistant in the District of Pader.
Duties and Responsibilities of Program Assistant
1. Support the coordination of the Project and the partner DPOs with the District Unions.
2. Follow-up activities and ensure a full-time contact in Hie Target District.
3. Oversee and support project implementation at (he District level
4. He/She will be responsible for mobilization of PWDs to participate in Project activities as well as mainstream poverty programs of Governments and NGOs
5. He/She will be responsible for coordination for with local authorities on matters relating to project implementation
6. Link PWDs to relevant service providers within the District
7. Network with stakeholders and represent NUDIPU in coordination meetings within the District
8. Maintain the Unions Books of Accounts together with District Union treasurer.
9. Organize monthly DSHAC meetings and be secretary of the same
10. Monitor and document project successes and track outputs in relation to the project objectives
11. Prepare and submit monthly narrative and financial reports on project performance in the District
12. Perform any other responsibilities assigned to him/her by the immediate supervisor

Job requirement
Qualifications and Experience
A Degree in Social science. Social work, Development Studies or a related field. At least three years experience, full proficiency in English and Luo, strong flexibility and adaptability to travel within the District, excellent communication and presentation skills, good writing skills, ability to use computer and the internet, knowledge in disability issues and experience in working with disabled persons.
Having a disability will be an added advantage.
Contract period:
A successful candidate will work on three months probation and will be awarded a one year contract upon satisfactory performance.
Remuneration:
An attractive performance related remuneration package with in
NUDIPU's salary structure will be offered.
