Intermón Oxfam is seeking a Livelihood and Food Security Coordinator for its International Cooperation Department. The position is located in Juba/Wau, South Sudan, with regular travels to the projects.
Key Responsibilities
Under the direction and guidance of the Country Director, the Livelihood and Food Security Coordinator will:
- Contribute to the development, review, and follow up of the implementation of the country strategy;
- Monitor and analyze the food security and livelihood context and situacion in the country;
- Lead actively the development of food security and livelihood programme formulation and ensure sound monitoring;
- Provide technical advice and support to project staff to ensure programme objectives are achieved;
- Co-ordinate the food security and livelihood activities/joint initiatives with other international agencies, local and national authorities and institutions;
- Ensure all the food security and livelihood programming is of excellent quality and respects Intermon OXFAM frameworks, guidelines and standards;
- Contribute to significantly to national / global learning, advocacy and programme development;
- Liaising with donors if necessary, and representing Intermon Oxfam in national and international ad hoc clusters and forums.
Experience and Skills
- 5 years of proven professional experience in development/humanitarian project
- Advanced degree in a discipline relevant to food security and livelihood such as: economics, agronomy, international studies, rural development, rural economics or other related topic.
- Relevant work experience in cash transfer methodologies, food security and livelihood assessment, programme formulation, rural development (on and off-farm activities), food aid and general food distribution, livelihood diversification,...
- Experience in capacity building and training of local staff and local partners, monitoring & evaluation & learning systems.
- Strong analytical and planning skills;
- Proven experience in developing proposals and liaison with donors;
- Previous experience in leading, managing, and advising teams
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience in both emergency and development contexts will be highly appreciated
- Fluent spoken and written English
- IT: user level of main software packages. Desirable: Sphinx, use of GPS and GIS software, database management tools and analysis tools, advanced Excel functions
- Willingness to travel extensively to field sites.
Working Conditions
Contract of employment: Contract of 1 year. Salary: According to the Intermón Oxfam's country salary scale + per diem R&R: 5 days every 12 weeks flight payed to Nairobi or Entebbe. The R&R can be reviewed while in mission. Social benefits: Medical, life and accident insurance and children benefit. Holidays: 27 working days per year (2011) Working place: Juba.
