Responsibilities This post is located in Entebbe, Uganda. Under the direct supervision of the Chief, Regional Service Centre (RSC), the Chief TMICC is responsible for ensuring the effective direction and integrated management of regional transportation in support of the missions in Central and Eastern Africa. This position is situated in the Regional Service Centre (RSC) in Entebbe, Uganda and reports to the Chief of the RSC, who serves as the delegated operational authority of the RSC which supports the operations of the regional missions in Central and Eastern Africa. Under the direct supervision of the Chief, Regional Service Centre (RSC), the incumbent: Liaise, negotiate and coordinate with regional missions regarding transportation services and functions that may be transferred to the Service Centre; Plan, organize, implement, manage and oversee the transition of transportation services and related activities from the identified regional missions to be served to the RSC through the TMICC Units - Planning and Operations Regional Infrastructure Unit and Training and Management Support Unit; Liaise with UNHQ on all matters related to the TMICC project; Manage the development of Key Performance Indicators (KPI) to assist the organization define and measure effectiveness of the services; Manage the development of the Transportation Service Level Agreements (SLA) between the RSC and regional missions; Define policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the delivery of services and their corresponding performance assessment approach and the tools required to ensure compliance; Coordinate with missions to ensure that the operational priorities are reflected and aligned with its mandate; Ensure that services provided are in line with the technical capabilities and resources; Ensure that the TMICC’s operational priorities are reflected and aligned with the mandates of the missions to be served; Identify the needs in the region and work with UNHQ to develop inter-agency cooperation and standby arrangements; Develop and disseminate best practices.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education Advanced university degree (Masters or equivalent) in business or public administration, management, logistics or supply-chain management. A first level university degree with a relevant combination of academic qualifications and experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Work Experience At least 10 years of progressively responsible professional experience in administration, management of transportation and Logistics. A minimum of 4 years of work experience within the UN system or in the field of administrative services or other related fields experience with UN Agencies is an advantage.

Languages Fluency in spoken and written English is required. Knowledge of a second UN language is an advantage.
