Finance Assistant Duty Station Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
Purpose of the position
The Finance Assistant will provide support in project administration and management for effective project implementation. S/he will report to the Finance Manager.
Profile
As a Finance Assistant you will:
Support the administration and financial matters within the project implementation;
Provide administrative and budgetary support in planning, budgeting, organizing, implementation and monitoring of training activities;
Collect and follow-up collection of training expenditures and liaise with the Finance officer in reviewing, analyzing the financial returns and reconciliations from the trainings, meetings and workshops;
Assist in posting of invoices and retirement in the Exact system;
Filing of documents such Payment and Retirements;
Support compilation and process VAT claims;
Support CR/ Deputy CR to prepare liquidation report of their duty trips that have been completed;
Pays relevant allowances to training facilitators and participants consistent with KNCV policies and project specification;
Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by management in relation with project implementation and daily management of the organization.
Who are we looking for?
Knowledge and experience
A Bachelor degree in accounting.
Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
Minimum of 2 years working experience with INGOs
Knowledge on Exact accounting package will be an added advantage.
Behavioral competencies and skills
Good in written and spoken English and Kiswahili.
Good oral and written communications skills
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in multicultural environment.

KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation is an international non-profit organization dedicated to the fight against tuberculosis (TB), still the second most deadly infectious disease in the world.
KNCV is an international center of expertise for TB control that promotes effective, efficient, innovative and sustainable tuberculosis control strategies in a national and international context. We are an organization of passionate TB professionals, including doctors, researchers, training experts, nurses, epidemiologists and laboratory scientists. We aim to stop the spread of the worldwide epidemic of TB and to prevent the further spread of drug-resistant TB.
Over the past century we have built up a wealth of knowledge and expertise, initially by successfully controlling TB in the Netherlands. Since the 1970s, we have also shared our knowledge and expertise with the rest of the world. We operate from a central office in The Hague in the Netherlands, a regional office in Central Asia and country offices worldwide including Tanzania. KNCV raises funds from private, institutional, corporate, and government donors.
Challenge TB
KNCV is the lead partner in Challenge TB (CTB), the new USAID-funded 5-year global program to decrease TB mortality and morbidity in high burdened countries. We lead an international consortium with eight partner organizations: American Thoracic Society (ATS), Family Health International (FHI 360), Interactive Research & Development (IRD), Japanese Anti Tuberculosis Foundation (JATA), Management Sciences for Health (MSH), Program for Appropriate Technology in Health (PATH), The International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (The Union), and the World Health Organization. The overarching strategic objectives of Challenge TB are to improve access to quality patient centered care for TB, TB/HIV, and MDR-TB services; to prevent transmission and disease progression; and to strengthen TB platforms.
Purpose of the position
The main responsibility of the TB Case-Finding Technical Officer is to provide oversight of all in-country CTB TB case-finding activities, provide technical guidance on the coherence (including but not limited to community, TB/HIV, and MDR-TB case-finding activities) and logic of such activities with parallel laboratory network strengthening, and to have a particular focus actively enhancing facility-based case finding.
The TB Case-Finding Technical Officer reports to the Deputy Country Director and works in close collaboration with the Field Coordinators.
Profile
As a TB Case Finding Technical Officer you will:
Contribute to the overall framework (design) of TB Case-Finding in the CTB regions with a focus on high volume clinics and urban poor settings;
Directly responsible for improving capacity on facility-based specific activities which include integrating the Quality Implementation approach adopted by the Global Fund for case-finding in facility based institutes in CTB regions (basic DOTS, contact investigations, childhood TB, surveillance among health care workers (HCWs)
Support implementation of FAST strategy
With stakeholders, develop and implementation plan with milestones and targets addressing the enhanced case finding activities at the health facility level;
With the Field Coordinators and other authorities, support implementations of the plans health facilities;
Technically supervise the field 8 coordinators
Who are we looking for?
Education:
Masters’ degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Social Science or other relevant field.
Knowledge/experience:
Minimum of 5 years work experience in public health – TB or HIV programs;
Experience in teaching and capacity building;
Experience in managing and supervising a team.
Behavioral competencies and skills:
An out-of-the-box thinker who can develop innovative ideas towards achieving the objective of increased TB case finding;
Demonstrated facilitation skills;
Proven ability to develop effective working relationships;
Excellent oral and written communication skills;
The ability to organize and prioritize with eye for detail.
