Manager, PBB Marketing Wanted at Stanbic Bank Tanzania

Development of relevant and effective marketing solutions that are aligned to the Business strategy.

Job Purpose

To position Standard Bank Tanzania as a leading Personal and Business Banking (PBB),  and Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) business in Tanzania by developing relevant and effective marketing solutions that are aligned to the business strategy.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

  • Develop and drive marketing strategies that deliver against agreed business objectives.
  • Understand business objectives and be able to translate them into an effective marketing plan.
  • Drive the Tanzania brand strategy.
  • Plan, execute, manage and coordinate all marketing activities on the approved marketing plan.
  • Manage the design and production of all business Marketing materials and collateral. Ensure that  relevant and required approvals are obtained to ensure that all marketing material compliant with the Corporate Identity guidelines
  • Ensure that all advertising and media are compliant with the marketing and advertising codes of practices, banking regulations, codes of practices and laws that are relevant to the Bank and FS in Tanzania and Standard Bank Group.
  • Co-ordinate all meetings/interactions with all internal and external stakeholders including Agencies.
  • Develop and maintain mutually beneficial and effective relationships between Business Units and SBT Marketing Function.
  • Coordinate surveys to measure service delivery, share results with business, take remedial action, and ensure consistently high quality customer experience across the network.
  • Provide customer insights to the business units for product development and enhancement
  • Co-ordination of commercial sponsorships specific to SBT and ensure effective management according to agreed criteria.
  • Leveraging off the group sponsorship properties.
  • People management such as Performance Management,                                    Talent Management, Career Management for direct report(s).
  • To provide feedback to SBA Central marketing teams, and any other relevant stakeholders.
  • To ensure that all marketing activities in Tanzania are aligned to guidelines developed by Group Marketing Africa.
  • Ensure that the content on the websites is valid and accurate. This is to be done in liaison with the Manager: Communications.
  • Create, manage and report on the marketing budget
  • Support the business to create the “best place to work for”
  • Responsible for any other duty that may be assigned to you
  • Create a conducive environment for direct reports to deliver on they key assignments, develop competency and grow their career with the Bank. Ensure performance is well managed within Banks guidelines

Problem solving
  • The nature of the Business Unit is that information and content is not volunteered.  The incumbent will be expected to proactively solicit information that would enable them to put together Marketing and Communication strategy into Marketing Plans.
  • The incumbent will be working independently with very little guidance, structure and direction.
  • The incumbent needs to have a challenging mind-set.
  • Manage client’s expectation and improve their understanding of Marketing and Communications processes
  • Be able to deal with a complex environment that is high pressured multiple disciplines, volumes, complexities and time pressures all concurrently.
  • Must display an analytical ability and interpretation skills to conduct client needs analyses.
  • The role engages in operational management activities and requires the incumbent to translate strategic business communications objectives into operational communications plans/ tactics for implementation purposes.
  • Manage Stanbic Bank’s reputation internally and externally through marketing and communication.

  • Planning will be based on the SBT’s long term plan (2015-2018) as well as SBT Marketing and communications plan.
  • Flexibility is critically based on SBT objectives, stakeholders and environmental demands.

Decision making
Decisions will be made in conjunction with the Head, Marketing and Corporate Affairs.

Note that some responsibilities may rest into your role though not documented in here due to organizational needs.

Preferred Qualification and Experience

  • More than 4 years experience in Marketing
  • Minimum 1 year experience working in an African marketing environment as a manager.
  • Negotiation and networking skills
  • Experience in marketing financial services is preferred

Knowledge/Technical Skills/Expertise

  • Degree or  diploma in Marketing and Communications
  • Proven digital marketing competency
  • Basic business acumen coupled with an understanding of banking and the ability to grasp banking products is critical to ensure the provision of a value adding communication service to the business.
  • Demonstrated skill at converting organisational knowledge and target audience insights into executable communication plans.
  • Sound understanding of branding and brand dynamics to actively support and promote brand initiatives.
  • Project management and financial budgeting skills.
  • Ability to work at a local and international level
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
