To remain at the forefront of the human rights movement, Amnesty has to evolve with the continually changing sector. The Strategy and Evaluation Unit is central to this – assessing the impact of Amnesty’s work to drive improvements where they’re needed. Focussing on strategic and operational planning, you’ll make big changes in how we agree our future directions and allocate resources.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
Leading and developing global planning processes and strategies, you’ll support both the strategic and organisational sides of our operation. It’s all about putting in place our new strategy and driving a more simple and coordinated system for planning and resource allocation. So working with teams across Amnesty, you’ll use your knowledge in order to strengthen our planning – making sure we’re aligned in what we do, across multiple offices on all continents. You’ll also help make recommendations on the allocation of our resources in line with our strategic priorities. And with the bigger picture in mind, you’ll monitor trends, network with the relevant external organisations in the sector and stay up to date with evolving strategic issues and innovative practices – coming up with new ways of doing things at a crucial time in our development.
ABOUT YOU:
Coming from a strategy or planning role with another INGO, you’ll have extensive knowledge of the various methods and approaches involved, including impact-orientated theories of change. You’ll certainly have supported others in planning and building on capacity before – ideally in a similarly complex environment. And your project management skills will be complimented by your ability to move effectively between day-to-day operations and the bigger picture. Naturally, you’ll be a clear and convincing communicator – able to manage colleagues, build relationships with those working remotely, present influential arguments and negotiate changes across the organisation. But just as importantly, you’ll be eager to make the most of your industry knowledge and experience as you develop our capacity at this exciting time.
ABOUT US:
Our aim is simple: to bring the world closer to a place where human rights are enjoyed by all. Independent, international and influential, we campaign for justice, freedom and truth wherever they’re denied. Already our network of over three million members and supporters is making a difference in 150 countries. And whether we’re applying pressure through powerful research or direct lobbying, mass demonstrations, human rights education, or online campaigning, we’re all inspired by hope for a better world. One where human rights are respected and protected by everyone, everywhere.
