PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
We are seeking qualified candidates for an anticipated multi-year, USAID-funded Feed the Future project in Mozambique. The project intends to increase smallholder incomes by promoting market-oriented, competitive businesses in priority food and cash crop sectors. The position which will be based in Maputo, Mozambique is subject to project award.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
- Develop a strong, coherent technical vision and initiate and oversee innovative strategies across the program.
- Provide overall strategic direction, leadership, and program management,
- Provide technical leadership in improved aggregation, post-harvest handling and storage; market linkages; trade facilitation; business-enabling environment; and other activities that promote value chain competitiveness and food security.
- Manage relationships with local organizations, private sector stakeholders and government bodies.
- Supervise program operations, technical and administrative personnel, and preparation of periodic written and oral reports to USAID and TechnoServe headquarters.
- Ensure effective contract management
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, or related field required
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience managing complex programs required
- Portuguese fluency (written, reading and spoken) required
- Prior Chief of Party experience on USAID-funded agriculture/agribusiness and/or value chain development projects preferred
- Demonstrate ability to effectively manage a large team in agricultural development context
- Technical and managerial experience in Southern Africa preferred
- Excellent management, communication, and organization skills are required
- Excellent computer skills (word-processing, spread sheets, and databases) are required
- Must have the ability to supervise staff and coordinate programs with partners from a broad range of backgrounds and experiences
- Must have experience with networking and cooperating with other USAID and donor-funded projects
