Description
Background:
Social Impact (SI) is a Washington, DC-area international development consulting firm. We provide a full range of innovative program evaluation, management consulting, technical assistance, and training services to strengthen international development programs, organizations and policies. Our global services are in the areas of democracy and governance, health and education, agriculture, the environment, and economic growth.
Objective:
SI managing a contract with USAID/Bangladesh to conduct 25 evaluations, assessments and survey reviews of the Mission’s democracy and governance (DG) programs. The project seeks to hire consultants with extensive experience to perform upcoming evaluations in the following areas:
1. Community-based Policing (start date approximately 15 Sept 2013)
2. Local Government Training (start date approximately 20 Oct 2013)
3. Violence Against Women (start date approximately 20 Jan 2014)
4. Trafficking of People (start date approximately 4 May 2014)
Evaluations will last approximately 30 working days each.
Qualifications:
- Education: At least a master’s degree in the social sciences, development, public policy, public administration, evaluation, or a similar field;
- Ph.D. preferred
- At least 10 years of experience in democracy and governance (DG) evaluations and assessments in one of the above areas
- conducting program evaluations or applied social research;
- In-depth knowledge of human rights issues in Bangladesh;
- Experience working with local and/or national level government agencies in developing countries;
- Experience in community mobilization;
- Experience in the democracy and governance sector in Bangladesh preferred;
- Strong attention to detail and writing skills;
- Ability to produce a high quality eveluation report in English is essential;
- Ability to meet established deadlines; and
- Fluency in both English and Bangla.
