We are offering a comprehensive 3-year Research Associate traineeship within the Hydrological Information Management Group. You will benefit from a formal training programme and will focus on the understanding of soil moisture - key to the understanding of the hydrological cycle, land surface processes, and the ecological impacts of water availability. You will be involved in setting up and managing systems for handling this data, integrating the data with a range of other soil moisture datasets including point measurements and Earth Observation products, and assisting scientists in a wide range of disciplines to analyse the data.
Skills and qualifications required on appointment
- You will have at least a 2.1 degree in a numerate science discipline, preferably with modules focused on computing or data analysis
- You should have an interest in informatics and its use within environmental sciences
- Some knowledge of hydrology would be desirable
- You should have some programming skills
- You will need to demonstrate a well organised, practical approach to working within a team
- You will have a good understanding of best practice in data management
