The International Association of Public Transport (UITP) is the worldwide network for public transport authorities and operators, policy decision-makers, scientific institutes and the public transport supply and service industry.
The regular collection and dissemination of reliable and comparable data on public transport and urban mobility are key ingredients of the knowledge and advocacy missions of UITP.
The Project Manager is responsible for the collection of public transport and urban mobility data, the coordination with other parties involved in the project, and the preparation of output.
The position reports to the Director of the Knowledge and Membership Services Department.
Description of duties
- Identification of suitable local- and national-level sources of required data.
- Collection of data from a wide range of local sources and existing databases at national level, through desk research, questionnaires, and interviews.
- Validation and adjustment of collected data to match with established common definitions.
- Estimation of missing information through appropriate methods.
- Review and improvement of the identification and definition of data.
- Overall project management including relationship with other involved organisations and experts.
- Coordination with “client” departments within UITP.
- Analysis, processing and presentation of results.
Profile
Specific qualifications/skills
- Education: University degree with knowledge of quantitative methods and analysis. Background in econometrics a plus.
- Excellent data literacy.
- Knowledge of parties and processes involved in the production/measurement of urban transport data.
- Creativity in presenting and communicating data to different audiences.
- Ability to combine detailed data collection work with strategic thinking concerning the processing and analysis of data.
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to coordinate with professionals from different cultural backgrounds and senior experts.
- Interest in public transport and urban mobility.
General qualifications/skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent command of English. A good working knowledge of French or any additional languages would be an advantage.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
- Excellent command of IT and communication tools, particularly Excel, Powerpoint, and possibly other data analysis/graphical presentation packages.
