The role
The general role of the Manager Dams and Hydropower for the Africa Division is to lead the Dam and Hydropower, Tunnel, GeoSolution and Building business across the Division profit centre by:
· Implementing the Dams and Hydro strategic and business plans;
· Undertaking business development;
· Managing Dams and Hydro opportunities in the division, including EOI and proposal preparation;
· Allocating and managing the Dams and Hydropower technical resources in the Division's; and
· Ensuring Technical, commercial and financial delivery of all Dams and Hydropower projects in the Division.
With a track record of achievement in a similar role, you will have gained your experience in an engineering design consultancy and have a passion for building trusted relationships to drive positive change and win new work.
Suitable applicants will have/be:
· Minimum of first degree in Civil/Mechanical Engineering/Electrical Engineering or its equivalent
· A minimum of 10 years' practical experience in the field of civil engineering related to major civil infrastructure;
· A good understanding of hydropower/dams infrastructure project delivery and a demonstrated ability to deliver to clients' satisfaction successfully;
· Demonstrated experience in leading a team of technical resources.
· Ability to communicate (oral and in writing) effectively in English to furnish reports and assist with the preparation of business development materials including proposals;
· Demonstrated experience in societies and cultures within SMEC's geographic footprint;
· Demonstrated technical and commercial leadership within the candidate's discipline; and
· Experience working in Africa would be an added advantage.
