Position Title: Counsellor (3 positions)
Reporting to: SGBV Coordinator
Job Location: Dadaab
Reporting to the SGBV Coordinator, the Counsellor will provide technical support and leadership required for the successful implementation of all counselling activities, including the provision of direct counselling and case management. The Counsellor will be responsible for training and supervising SGBV Community Workers to respond to cases of SGBV in the camp and ensure effective case management. This includes providing ongoing training and mentorship for community workers and utilizing monitoring and evaluation systems to ensure high quality services.

Reporting to the SGBV Coordinator, the Counsellor will provide technical support and leadership required for the successful implementation of all counselling activities, including the provision of direct counselling and case management. The Counsellor will be responsible for training and supervising SGBV Community Workers to respond to cases of SGBV in the camp and ensure effective case management. This includes providing ongoing training and mentorship for community workers and utilizing monitoring and evaluation systems to ensure high quality services.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Participate in the development of professional, effective and appropriate SGBV counselling programming, including direct individual and group counselling support in Ifo 2 Camps.
• Provide professional and confidential services to survivors of SGBV, grounded in the, survivor-centred case management approach.
• Assist in the development and provision of counselling activities at the KRCS’s Community Centres based on participatory community assessments.
• Supervise and provide training, mentorship, and other technical support to community workers directly involved with the counselling component of the KRCS’s SGBV programme.
• Strengthen and maintain networks with community leaders and groups, service providers and camp management to ensure that survivors receive compassionate support from the community and to encourage greater communication, collaboration and coordination among partners (protection, health, legal, and counselling sectors).
• Conducting response-related trainings to key community stakeholders to promote quality service provision.
• Collect data about SGBV, monitor trends and emerging issues.
• Assist with preparing quality reports (daily, weekly and monthly) regarding the KRCS’s counselling activities.
• Ensure timely implementation of counselling programme activities.
• Provide leadership and guidance regarding counselling activities to all community workers to ensure all programme activities meet best practice standards.
• Work in collaboration with Social Services team to ensure ongoing needs of community members especially women and children are being met through prevention-related activities.
• Lead awareness-raising and/or sensitization campaigns on the KRCS’s counselling activities and other SGBV services in collaboration with the Community Social Services team.
• Make appropriate referrals for cases that require other partners or sectors intervention.
• Conduct group therapy sessions for SGBV survivors.
• Participate in development of monthly outreach plans with community workers, based on case trends and ongoing needs, include strategies to reach women and girls who are more isolated/have special needs.
• Fulfil any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications
• Higher Diploma in counselling or a degree in counselling psychology
• At least 3 years experience working with Sexual Gender Based Violence (SGBV) survivors.
• Knowledge of the GBVIMS an added advantage.
• Have ability to work under hardship conditions.
• Preferably Somali speaking will be an added advantage owing to the surrounding community.
