The International Rescue Committee (IRC), a renowned international humanitarian agency, would like to inform interested candidates about full time job vacancies available for the project 'Inclusive Society: Together Ending Malnutrition,' funded by the European Union in Ngoma district. Full time position based in Ngoma.
The Capacity Building Officer is responsible for building a strong partnership with the civil society organization partner of the project (Benishyaka) to support the CSO in developing and implementing its strategic plan on nutrition to decrease malnutrition issues affecting the most vulnerable households:
- Supporting CSO partner in conducting participatory assessment at community level on nutrition issues, with a focus on the most vulnerable (including women and children under 5 years old) and in developing its nutrition strategic plan
- Providing technical guidance and follow up on the implementation of nutrition strategic plan of the CSO partner, including support to develop income generating activities through cooperatives and behavior change campaigns
- Providing capacity-building to CSO partner on participatory planning, monitoring and evaluation, and advocacy, as well as technical support on the development of village level nutrition plans
- Supporting CSO partner in leading advocacy initiatives related to nutrition issues at local and national levels
- Working in close collaboration with the nutrition officers and the partnership and finance officer
- Producing timely and accurate activity reports and ensuring the use of the tools and procedures for the monitoring and evaluation of the project
- Assisting the project manager with budget and activity planning
Qualifications
- At least 3 years of experience in nutrition, capacity building or civil society development
- Bachelor in social science, public health, agriculture or related field
- Proven experience in working with local civil society organizations
- Experience in working with cooperatives and income generating activities required
- Working experience with vulnerable groups is an asset
- Experience in advocacy is an asset
- Excellent communication skills, ability to work with a wide range of actors
- Team player
- Good writing & reporting skills
- Good IT skills (Word, Excel Power Point, Internet, Outlook)
- Fluent in Kinyarwanda, English and/or French
- Driving license A
- Knowledge of Eastern Province is an asset.
