StarTimes Media (Kenya) Company Limited (Referred as StarTimes) aims at providing affordable, various, and reliable digital TV service to Kenya. This includes not only the set-top-box, but also digital TV services.

Our services are going to be available in Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, and nine other cities within this year. Kenya will be the ninth country covered by the StarTimes Group’s digital services.

The former countries include: Rwanda, Nigeria, Tanzania, Republic of Guinea, Mozambique, Uganda, Burundi and Central Africa. The StarTimes Group has more than one million subscribers in Pan Africa and more than seven million subscribers globally.

1) Call Centre Representative

(Nairobi:12)

Job Objective:

Support and provide superior service via phones, e-mails and faxes as a receiver and caller, use questioning and listening skills that support effective telephone communication.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Project a professional company image through phone interaction
  • Collect customer inquiries, explain product function and resolve problems
  • Work with the customer to ensure they are properly serviced
  • Take calls and handle each request to ensure customers are satisfied on the first call
  • Make follow up calls to ensure customer satisfaction
Skills and Competencies:
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including active listening and empathy
  • Flexibility with regard to work schedule
  • Intermediate computer proficiency - keyboard, mouse, copy-and-paste, typing and navigating between multiple windows
Education/Experience:
  • Bachelors degree from accredited university in any major required
  • 1+ Year of sales, call-center or customer service experience is preferred
2) Customer Service Representative

(Nairobi:25/ Mombasa:6/ Kisumu:10)

Job Objective:

Responsible for day to day running of customer service centres, to keep track of stock levels, to keep accounts and manage cash flow, to meet targets and policies.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • To provide excellent customer service in sales and after-sales situations
  • To respond to general customer inquiries and complaints in a timely manner and to resolve issues to satisfaction of customer based on company policy
  • To project a professional company image
  • Accurately respond to questions and assist customers with product features, installation, setup, troubleshooting and hardware operations
  • Assist customers with their billing and payments needs and accepting payments
  • Sell multiple entertainment products and services as well as hardware systems and accessories
  • Maintaining a professional appearance, behavior, and conduct
  • Effectively work with peers in a team focused environment
  • Perform other duties as required
Skills and Competencies:
  • Responsible, trustworthy, and personally takes responsibility for actions/consequences of all staff of business hall
  • Able to handle and difficult situations under pressure with grace and efficiency
  • Great communication skills, listening skills, loves a challenge, can perform under pressure with limited supervision
  • Professional appearance and the willingness and ability to work evenings and weekend shifts as needed
Education/Experience:
  • Bachelors degree from accredited university in any major
  • Fluency in English and Swahili
  • Prior customer service experience preferred
3) Dtv Platform Maintenance

(Limuru: 1/ Mombasa: 2/ Kisumu:2)

Please Note, Initial Training Will Be Done In Nairobi For Two Months.

Job Objective:

To provide maintenance support to the technical operations department of the company.
Ensure all transmission equipment is working at all times and faults and repairs are done in a timely manner.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • To oversee the optimal performance of the company’s digital tv platform.
  • To maintain the digital tv platform, including transmitters, digital TV head-end, broadcasting networks.
  • To oversee and assist the construction of the digital TV platform.
Skills and Competencies:
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in digital TV platforms, transmitters, digital TV front end systems, and broadcasting networks.
  • Capable of working long shifts (night and weekends required).
  • Have strong interest in digital television technology.
  • Hard working, good attitude, strong sense of responsibility, and enthusiasm for work performed.
Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field from an accredited university required.
  • Experience in the communications industry and related maintenance experience preferred.
  • Prior experience in maintenance and support of transmitters and broad casting equipment.
4) Operation Center Monitor

(Nairobi:2)

Job Objective:

To assist in the construction of the digital broadcasting network, to maintain the said network at its optimal function.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • To assist in the construction of the nationwide digital TV network and associated works
  • To maintain the digital broadcasting network once in operation and make sure that the network is operating at optimal levels
  • To resolve problems with the digital network within set time limits
  • Provide technical support in the workplace to include set-up, maintenance, and repairs of computers, lan, and other tech equipment
  • Test and troubleshoot equipment
  • Miscellaneous responsibilities as required
Skills and Competencies:
  • Experience in networking, including router, fiber, bandwidth, and wireless networks
  • Proactive and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Highly motivated and disciplined, with an ability to follow procedures exactly.
  • Capable of working long shifts (night and weekends required)
  • Has strong interest in digital television technology
  • Hard working, good attitude, strong sense of responsibility, and enthusiasm for work performed
Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in related major from accredited university.
  • 1+ Years of related experience in the communications industry and related maintenance experience preferred.
5) Sales Account Executives

(Nairobi: 15/ Mombasa: 6/Kisumu:10)

Job Objective:
  • Increase company sales through new cliental and to maintain a stable and progressive relationships with current cliental.
  • To ensure smooth and efficient operations of the marketing and sales department by coordinating and cooperating within departments and between departments to ensuring that expected sale targets are met.
  • To safeguard company’s property and products according to company’s policies and procedures. To assist the sales director with any issues related to the sales department.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain accounts.
  • Implement the channel sale policy, and formulate promotion plan
  • Enlarge corporate account market and achieve expected sales targets
  • Keep good relationship with clients, and resolve the problem customers faced, dealing with customers’ complaints promptly, and collect market information
  • Feedback and maintain the information of dealers and resellers
  • Analyze the information of dealers and market, and forecast the market trends
  • Support work of delivery, goods provides, goods returning, payment collection, receipts, accountings checking, etc
  • Achieve the individual sale targets, and submit all the required documents in time.
  • Any other tasks assigned by the management
Skills and Competencies:
  • Ability to adjust priorities and manage time wisely in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain records and documentation pertaining to work force.
  • Problem solving skills
  • Possess strong product and system knowledge.
  • Possess good communications and analytical skills – English and Swahili
  • Ability to provide outstanding service and sales to clients.
Education/Experience:
  • Diploma from a recognized university/college with at least 2 years related work experience from a fast paced organization.
  • Computer literacy
6) Product Consultant

(Nairobi: 10)

Job Objective:

To provide pre-sales information about the company’s product to potential customers in order to promote the product in a store setting and to provide aftersales service to current customers.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • To introduce the product to the customer, and to provide the customer with information about the product, including the product functions and service through live demonstrations of company’s products at supermarkets and stores.
  • To give customers a comprehensive understanding of the product in order to generate purchase intention from the customer, and at the same time to provide superior after-sales customer service for customers.
  • To consult with customers, to collect customer information and customer recommendations and comments.
  • To improve service and communication with existing customers including bulk customers.
  • To use polite langue to provide the best service for customers.
  • To take the initiative to help customers, to be enthusiastic, courtesy, patient, and thoughtful so that customers feel at ease.
Skills and Competencies:
  • Health and strong, warm and cheerful character, proactive
  • Smart appearance and attractive
  • Strong sense of responsibility and dedication.

7) Legal Advisor

Job description and duties:
  • To undertake all related legal work regarding startimes.
  • To provide legal advice and assistance to the divisions and directorates.
  • To provide legal support to other countries according startimes requirements.
Skills and Effectiveness:
  • Able to communicate effectively.
  • Analytical and problem solving skills commensurate with the level of responsibility.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Able to manage time effectively and complete tasks within deadlines.
  • Able to establish effective working relationships.

  • Advocate of the high court of Kenya
