The Association of African Universities (AAU), an International Non-Governmental Organization (INGO), with headquarters in Accra, Ghana, was set up in November 1967 by universities in Africa to promote cooperation among themselves and between them and the international academic community. Purpose of Post
This successful candidate will report to the Head of Communication and Services, and will be responsible for the following tasks:
Main Responsibilities
- Ensure the regular maintenance of all electronic equipment, including:
- Printers
- Copiers
- PABX
- Fax machines
- Stabilizers and UPS as per service schedule
- Keep a proper and accurate inventory of all ICT hardware and software of the AAU, report on their status periodically
- Manage stock of ICT consumables
- Repair or facilitate the repair of ICT equipment and application programmes
- Assist in the maintenance of the Local Area Network (LAN)
- Ensure that all maintenance contracts for computers are adhered to and that faults reported are fixed according to warranty, license and contract agreements
- Assist in compilation of required data from the Internet
- Assist with setting up and managing computer conferencing systems and environment and social networking sites for AAU
- Excellent skills in both Linux and Windows systems
Profile
- A good first degree, or equivalent professional qualification and a minimum two (2) years post-qualification work experience
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English (a working knowledge of French or Arabic is an advantage)
- Work experience in a local or international NGO
- Report writing skills
- Experience in Word Processing, Spreadsheets and Database
- Familiarity with Unix/Linux, e-mail and the Internet
- Strong knowledge in social networking technologie
- Working knowledge of development languages including HTML, XML, CSS and others
- Good working knowledge of web marketing trends and campaign components such as writing for the web, newsletters, banners, polling, social media and blogs;
- Sound technical knowledge on ICT, systems administration, network administration and systems security and be abreast of latest development in these fields
Duration of Position
The contract will be for an initial period of four (4) years, subject to a probationary period of six (6) months, and is renewable, subject to the availability of project funding.
Conditions of Employment
- The AAU offers an attractive remuneration package calculated and paid in US dollars.
- The candidate will be entitled to annual leave of twenty-one (21) working days.
