Imagine Scholar, an education non-profit in South Africa, seeks an International Program Manager.
Title: International Program Manager
Organization: Imagine Scholar
Location: Kamhlushwa, Mpumalanga, South Africa
Interested in making a big difference in the lives of amazing kids in an engaging work setting? Imagine Scholar is seeking an International Program Manager to live on-site in our Education Center in South Africa.
Imagine Scholar selects a small group of highly motivated students in South Africa’s rural Nkomazi region and works closely with them through all four years of high school. Our focus is on developing the critical thinking, creativity, character and writing skills that are so crucial for university-level work (and life beyond), but are not a focus in their regular schooling. Please visit our website for more information, www.ImagineScholar.org.
Imagine Scholar is a small, young organization. The International Program Manager will play a key role in positioning the program for long-term success. You will not be a cog, but will rather have the opportunity (and be expected) to make the position your own and contribute your unique skill set in as many ways as possible. Responsibilities include curriculum design, teaching, project management, administrative duties, and thinking on your feet to solve whatever issues invariably arise. For the right person, this is a unique, amazing opportunity to do rewarding work and get to know another culture.
Timing
Seeking to fill position immediately
Education / Experience
No specific experience is required. An education background or interest is a plus, but not required. We are looking for a self-starting, highly motivated, creative, smart, and all-around good person to be our colleague.
Remuneration
Imagine Scholar pays for all day-to-day living expenses (i.e. food, transportation, and communications). You’ll live in our Education Center in Kamhlushwa (a village just north of Swaziland, south of Kruger Park, and west of Mozambique) with the rest of the team members (us!). We’ll also provide a monthly stipend of 1,000 rand (approx $125) to have some fun. Plane ticket is not paid for initially, but if the Program Manager stays the full year, it will be reimbursed upon leaving. The position also receives ample vacation time during school holidays (including a month off over the New Year) for personal travel.
