The MAISHA program is collaborating with the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare (MoHSW) to deliver critical, evidence-based health interventions to reduce maternal and newborn morbidity and mortality, contributing to the achievement of the national targets for Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) Four and Five.
To accomplish this goal, MAISHA seeks to recruit self-motivated individuals for Regional Program Officer positions in various regions in Tanzania, The successful candidates will be based in the specified region and will be responsible for the smooth and timely completion of MAISHA program activities in that particular region. A competitive salary will be offered to the successful candidates and will be dependent on qualifications and experience.
REGIONAL PROGRAM OFFICER:
Function: Reporting to the Senior Program Manger,
• Retain ultimate responsibility for the overall implementation of MAISHA initiatives in the specified region
• Oversee the roll-out of MAISHA emergency obstetric and newborn care and focused antenatal care programs.
• Oversee implementation of project activities in the districts within the specified region including, training, coaching and mentoring of health workers
• Conduct regular routine assessments and supervision visits, collect complete programmatic data in a timely fashion and prepare regular progress reports.
• Maintain close relationship with the RMO, DMOs, Regional and District RCH Coordinators, Regional and district Nursing Officers, CHMTs and NGO’s implementing Maternal and Child Health work in the specified region
Preferred Qualifications and experience:
• An MD, AMO, or degree in nursing, however candidates with public health, or other relevant fields will be considered;
• Solid programming and technical expertise in reproductive health
• At least 5 years experience managing health programs at a regional or national level, including planning, designing, budgeting, supervising, evaluating and documenting results;
• Excellent interpersonal and supervisory skills, inspiring teamwork and motivating staff, consultants and partners to achieve results;
• Demonstrated experience maintaining donor and partner relations; ability to work in a complex environment with multiple tasks, short deadlines and intense pressure to perform;
• Excellent written and oral English and Kiswahili skills;
• Demonstrated self-management (i.e. motivation, dealing with pressure, adaptability);
• Willingness to live in the specified region and travel up to 40% time.
