Internews is launching its new Humanitarian Media Roster in an effort to deploy qualified humanitarian communications and media specialists faster and more efficiently to aid communities in crisis. The Roster will allow Internews to identify, assemble and deploy, within 24-48 hours, groundbreaking response teams to provide life-saving information and improve communications with disaster-affected people.
The Roster offers experienced humanitarian communications and media professionals a unique opportunity to make an immediate and direct impact in peoples lives, support and work with local media, face new challenges, and enhance their skills-base in an area of humanitarian work that is receiving increased attention and recognition within the UN and International NGO community. Internews is welcoming applications from humanitarian communication and relief experts and experienced media professionals for the following eight positions:
• Team Leader • Humanitarian Liaison Officer • Humanitarian Journalism Trainer • Radio Producer/Trainer • Radio Technician • Research/Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Officer • Emergency Multimedia Documentation Officer • Logistics Officer
"This Roster is long overdue and will dramatically improve the vital communication-with-affected-communities component of all emergency responses right from the start, making sure actors on the ground are responding appropriately and effectively to the communication needs of local populations," said Oliver Lacey-Hall, Head of the Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA).
