SCOPE OF WORK
The System Analyst is a key position in the country of deployment, with support responsibility for all individuals and organizations designated by the iMMAP Country Team Leader and the Senior Information Management Officer. The System Analyst will be responsible for the identification of information management (IM) needs and requirements within humanitarian clusters (especially the protection cluster and the nutrition cluster) and propose the development of IM products to fulfill those needs including maps, databases, spatial analysis and decision support systems. The Analyst will be also responsible for maintaining, updating and dissemination of data and information, from iMMAP to the humanitarian clusters.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Identify Information Management requirements of NGOs and UN agencies participating in the Cluster system (especially protection cluster and nutrition cluster)
Identify and document data and information flow, from collection to analysis and dissemination, and provide suggestions for improving the information flow of data and information (especially protection cluster and nutrition cluster)
Create awareness of the iMMAP project to agencies by distributing maps, giving presentations and doing software (e.g. OASIS) demonstrations.
Provide OASIS installations and OASIS training at field level to humanitarian partners.
Provide inputs and suggestions for custom map products to meet the identified cluster/agency requirements.
Collect data from humanitarian partners in the field, and prepare the data for GIS ready mapping and distribution via OASIS. Archive and properly document any data received.
Produce relevant reports from the OASIS database on various datasets as required.
Any other task as specified by the Country Team Leader and the Senior Information Management Officer
REPRESENTATION
Represent the iMMAP Afghanistan Team with national and international donors, partners and other organizations as directed, and participate in local community activities as appropriate.
Adhere to iMMAP branding guidelines for all iMMAP products and correspondence.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
At least seven years of experience in the field of Humanitarian Information Management (HIM).
University degree or related technical training in information management, systems analysis, data analysis, geographic information systems, social sciences
In-depth knowledge of the humanitarian cluster system, especially for social protection
In depth experience of dealing with humanitarian organizations traditionally involved in social protection and/or nutrition, especially IOM and UNHCR
Experience in data analysis related to IDPs (conflict-affected IDPs and/or disasters-affected IDPs) like IDPs-profiling.
Experience in the tracking of population movements (e.g. informal migration)
DESIRED
Proven ability and experience interacting with a wide range of organizations while upholding humanitarian principles of impartiality and neutrality;
Practical experience working in emergency response or other fast paced high stress environment.
Previous experience in Afghanistan
Experience in the ESRI range of technical products and tools, database administration and management
