The World Bank Group has commenced a global search for the Executive Vice President (EVP) of the IFC. The position is based in Washington DC and reports to the President of the World Bank Group.
The IFC is the private sector arm of the World Bank, with 3500 staff based in more than 100 locations throughout the world. It has a total balance sheet of $70 billion, and is the largest source of loan and equity financing for private sector projects in the developing world. It also provides advisory services. The EVP is responsible for the formulation and implementation of IFC’s business strategy in line with the overall development objectives of the World Bank. S/ he runs the organization and also serves as a member of the Senior Leadership Team of the World Bank Group.
Candidates for this position will have:
• A strong track record of success in running a sophisticated global organization as CEO, or as a direct report to the CEO of a very large such institution, including extensive experience of the developing world;
• Significant experience in corporate finance, risk management, financial products and complex investment instruments including public and private equity, with clear accountability for profit and loss;
• Deep experience of the private sector and familiarity with public/private partnership models;
• Exceptional management and leadership skills including the ability to attract, select and motivate talented and diverse staff in a dynamic multicultural environment;
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
• Commitment to a strong and healthy culture of honesty, trust, openness, and accountability;
• Enthusiasm for and experience relevant to the mission of IFC;
• Knowledge of the global development agenda and issues relating thereto;
