| Key Tasks: •Assist with the development of the Hub IT business aligned strategy for the architectural roadmap in line with MTN Group technology Strategy and Blueprints and global best practice in order to ensure that the organization is viable both internally and externally and as a social and financial entity •Translate business strategy into the technology strategy and ensure that new capabilities required by the business are supported •Support the development and articulation of the IT Hub vision that underpins all activity; capturing short; medium and long term goals and provide a high level activity roadmap; including investment plan and key change programmes •Provide input to the ‘MTN Group IT blueprint’ to addresses business needs taking into consideration the Data Architecture, Systems Architecture and Computer Architecture of the organization •Provide leadership and management with the visibility; control and decision support required to understand and manage the investment plan; annual operating plan; project portfolio and the architecture roadmap; •Provide the team with the expertise to build their capabilities in order to drive effectiveness and efficiencies within the team •Establish alignment with MTN OPCO objectives in order to effectively drive the overall business and group objectives •Establish and monitor performance benchmarks for the team in order to ensure ongoing effectiveness of the division •Work with stakeholders; both leadership and subject matter experts; to build a holistic view of the organizational strategy; processes; information and information technology assets •Prepare the annual work plan and ensure the effective execution thereof in order to ensure the business objectives are achieved •Prepare; monitor and control the annual departmental budget to ensure expenditure is in line with the business plan •Act as a trusted advisor to the head of the business unit in order to provide technical input and insights to decision making processes •Act as an advocate of the group and regional IT strategy within the Hub and towards businessCommunicate the relevant segments of the technology strategy across the workforce; to enable all technology personnel to be aware of how they are contributing to the overall business strategy •Serve as a subject matter expert for architectural frameworks; methods; design patterns and tools •Periodically prepare relevant documentation (using multiple architectural models or views) to show how the current and future needs of the organization will be met in an efficient; sustainable; agile and adaptable manner.
Supervisory / Leadership / Managerial Tasks: •Direct and monitor work of subordinates •Ensure the team is led; motivated and rewarded to achieve key performance areas •Manage the performance and deliverables of direct and indirect reports to ensure that the objectives of the department are achieved •Possess the authority; presence and integrity to command respect from colleagues and from external contacts •Prepare; provide input, monitor and control the annual departmental CAPEX and OPEX budget to ensure expenditure is in line with the business plan •Provide clear direction and communicate the implication and interdependencies of each functional unit •Provide clear direction and manage performance of the team •Recruit staff for appointments •Set goals for direct reports; monitor progress and maintain motivation •Set up appropriate structure to meet departmental management objectives •Skills transfer to ensure staff development; motivation and business continuity

| •BS in computer science or other relevant IT discipline •MBA would be advantageous
|
|
|
| •8 years experience which includes at least 5 years of relevant technical IT experience in enterprise / systems architecture; senior management experience essential; experience in international IT best practices frameworks e.g.TOGAF / COBIT / ITIL essential. Knowledge and experience within industry standard architecture such as eTOM advantageous •IT Telecommunication experience –3 years minimum
