VACANCIES IN TECHNICAL SUPPORT UNITS AND WATER AND SANITATION DEVELOPMENT FACILITIES (WSDFs)
Introduction:
The Ministry of Water and Environment seeks to recruit specialists and Social Scientists in the Technical Support Units (TSUs) to reinforce its roles in monitoring and implementation of its mandate with Local Governments. Successful candidates should be ready to serve in any region of the country. Assignments will be one and half (11/2) years renewable contract and specialists can be posted to work in any part of Country. At the same time the Ministry has vacancies existing under the four Water and Sanitation Development Facilities (WSDFs) requiring urgent filling. Reports to: Community Development Specialist
Duties and responsibilities:
1) Carry-out training and advocacy at community level on hygiene and sanitation matters.
2) Coordinate the preparation for community inception meetings.
3) Prepare and carrying out sensitization programmes to stakeholders at District level on utilization and maintenance of water schemes and sanitation issues.
4) Participate in mobilization of communities with a view of ensuring their involvement in and ownership of water schemes being developed.
5) Participate in preparation of monthly and quarterly work plans and performance reports thereof for the management’s consideration.
6) Ensure the integration of gender issues during the project implementation and management.
7) Collaborate with NGOs and other actors in the region to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in allocation of resources during the project implementation.
8) Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Requirement:
Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor of Arts Degree, with Sociology as a one of the major subjects, from a recognized University/ Institution.
Experience:
• At least two years as sociologist in water related field.
• Knowledge and experience in gender analysis will be an added advantage.
