Technical Advisor (Laboratory)

PURPOSE OF ROLE:

The incumbent is accountable for providing direct output support to the Laboratory Manager to implement LIMS (laboratory information management system) and best practices, within the analytical laboratory.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Must have at least 3 years experience in Laboratory analytical technic management.
  • Ability to speak fluently in both English and French.
  • Basic computer skills (including data processing i.e. LIMS)
  • Good knowledge of analytical management methods and the ability to develop and optimize OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 Standards.
  • Proven competence in management and interpretation of analytical data.
  • Ability to develop concise reports, new procedures and equipment control.
  • An international driver's license is essential.

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND AUTHORITIES OF THE ROLE:

This incumbent would be accountable for the following:

  • Conducting fire assaying and water analysis test work.
  • Managing analytical issues in strict conformity with lab procedures and standards applicable within the company and making proposals of possible mitigation measures relating to quality and quantity.
  • Establishing and maintaining good working relationships through cross functional working relationships.
  • Coaching subordinates to optimize effectiveness in role.
  • Providing periodic Quality assurance and quality control (QAQC) reports.

REPORTING TO:

Laboratory Manager

REMUNERATION:

The successful candidate will be appointed on a 2 year expatriate contract, which may be renewed, regular leave breaks will apply. The successful candidate would be offered a US dollar based salary.
