The purpose of the role is to provide support to the SVP: Business Improvement & Operational Support in the effective message delivery of key strategic initiatives within the Continental Africa Region (CAR) as well as enhace the overall internal communications framework for CAR.
ACCOUNTABILITIES & AUTHORITIES:
The role holder has the following accountabilities and authorities:
Internal Communication
- Implement, maintain and monitor the implementation of Continental Africa Region Communications Framework aligned with the Corporate Communications policy and standards;
- Collaborate with various departments / functions to coordinate the development of the weekly, monthly, quarterly, ad hoc internal communications e.g. content for monthly briefings, town halls, quarterly board report, newsletters, presentation materials for communicating CAR strategic initiatives as defined within CAR Communications Framework, whilst maintaining quality and consistency;
- Develop communication plans and deliverables for Regional specific strategic initiatives e.g. Mining and Obuasi Taskforce, oneERP project etc;
- Monitor the effectiveness of the CAR communication framework through an annual communications survey for continuous improvement;
- Ensure effective communication by aligning the quality and consistency of the communications framework and as such informing and/or presenting information through various mediums as required e.g. e-mails, web pages, presentations, etc;
- Collaborate with various departments and or functions within CAR;
- Maintain a variety of Regional templates e.g. newsletters, power point presentations, word documents for use within CAR taking into account local context and content;
- Build capability by developing the knowledge & skills of the Communication Specialists within CAR.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- A recognised Bachelor's qualification in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, English or Marketing.
- A minimum of 3 years experience in a corporate communications environment, preferably within the mining industry.
- Fluency in French would be advantageous
- Experience in MS Projects, Microsoft Office Suit of pakcages and Graphic Design
