1. The role holder is a key management resource in SME Banking and assists in managing the SME business by leading a ‘self-contained’ team and optimising the resources and financial performance of the team, and;
2. Is required to market and manage SME customer relationships through pro-active and consultative approach and detailed understanding of existing customers’ business(es) to enhance profit and;
3. Acquire profitable new customers for the SME Banking business through the creation, development and maintenance of high quality advisory relationships, that includes effective consultative selling and creative structuring of financial solutions (within segmentation boundaries).
Key Roles & Responsibilities
• Directly work with customers to deepen and secure new business relationships through the analyses of needs and provision of products and services.
• Responsible for delivery of Small Business strategy within the context of the overall SME Banking strategy for Tanzania.
• Responsible for the delivery of overall Small Business Team objective.
• Creatively tailor products to meet individual customer and/or target segment needs.
• Analyses and reviews quality of potential and existing business across the team to ensure resources are deployed for maximum profitability.
• Manages credit quality standards through effective management of risk according to the Departmental Operating Instructions (DOI) and other SCB policies.
• Ensure that up-to-date records of all actual and attempted customer interactions.
• Ensure all customer meetings have defined call objectives, desired outcomes and a well-constructed plan.
• Make joint calls for high-value or high-exposure customers
• Ensure Business Relationship Managers work seamlessly with Business Analysts and Credit Managers to ensure that credit applications for new and existing facilities are correctly prepared in accordance with DOI.
• After consideration of individual case merits, recommend credits for approval by relevant authorities and champions credits submitted to RCO or Group Credit.
• Provide leadership in areas of expertise, particularly in the structuring of credits and the provision of products and services to customers.
• Co-ordinate country or regional initiatives within a SME team or SME business.
• Provide feedback to Regional Head SME Banking, General Manager SME Banking, marketing and product management on customer’s needs and the efficiency of marketing strategies and tactics.
• Responsible for delivering a service to customers that matches the Bank’s brand promise of being ‘ Here for Good”
• Remain Alert to the risk of Money laundering and assist in the Bank’s effort in combating it by adhering to the key principles in relation to: ”identifying your customer, knowing your customer, transaction monitoring, reporting suspicions, safeguarding records and not disclosing suspicions to customers”.
Qualifications & Skills
• Good first degree or requisite technical skills gained through professional associations and practical experience.
• Strong general banking experience and expertise.
• Five plus years of experience.
• Credit Skills Assessment qualified.
• Trade Skills Assessment qualified.
• Prior experience in a corporate/wholesale banking environment is an asset.
