Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Analyst to assist Associate Directors/Directors and Managing Directors in the origination and execution of transactions for Strategic Client Coverage Group within Wholesale Banking.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
• Support senior staff on SCCG transaction origination and execution of corporate finance and capital markets transactions
• Develop existing ideas and/or provide forward thinking
• Responsbile for financial modeling, in particular DCF and LBO models
• Develop and maintain client financial and markets database on a regular basis
• Sector and client research, particularly in terms of market and company comparable analysis
• Preparation and presentation of information memoranda, pitch books, presentations, prospectuses, fairness opinions (including valuation) and other forms of reports
• Assist Directors / Associate Directors in structuring transactions
• Collect, review and analyse financial and other information from multiple market data sources including Bloomberg, Factset and Thomson Reuters
• Provide new and innovative ideas for business idea generation
• Train and coach analysts vis-à-vis their deliverables
• Carry out due diligence work related to transactions
Major Stakeholders:
• Lawyers, accountants, technical and market consultants providing due diligence services
• SCB OCC and internal product partners
• Mandated deal partners
Key Measurables
• Quality, timelines and accuracy of output whilst multi-tasking across multiple deals and working to tight deadlines
• Comprehensive understanding of the Bank’s product suite
• Demonstrate industry/market knowledge
• Internal and external perception – i.e. ability to leverage internal product partner, mandated deal partners, etc.
• Teamwork / inter-personal / communication skills
• Thought leadership and initiative
• Adherence to SCB values
Qualifications & Skills
• Highly motivated individuals who are able to work independently with minimal supervision from senior bankers.
• Demonstrate the initiative to use “down time” to increase their knowledge of products or processes in the Bank
• Candidates should have a Bachelors / Masters degree from a good university and grades placing him / her in the top 10 percentile. Plus relevant working experience in Corporate Finance / Industry or Geography Coverage team with top investment banks
• A strong record of achievement in academics and possess superior analytical aptitude, creative problem solving abilities and basic accounting skills
• Key skills should include:
i. Strong ability with MS Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint,
ii. Generate prospectuses/ information memoranda/ investment teasers/ pitch books;
iii. General industry/ country/ company research;
iv. Ability to perform Discounted Cash Flow and other forms of valuation
v. Excellent -fluency in both written and spoken English and Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese)
