Job Summary
The Australian Government, through AusAID, is committed to broadening and deepening its engagement with African countries and institutions. The Australia Africa Partnerships Facility (AAPF) is one of the mechanisms used to achieve the second objective of Australia’s strategic approach to aid to Africa 2011-2015, which is ‘to help build the human resources capacity of African countries, particularly in areas and ways where Australia has recognised strengths and expertise’. The goal of the AAPF is to develop partnerships between Australia and African countries that contribute to achieving African countries’ development priorities.
The AAPF is managed on behalf of the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) by Cardno Emerging Markets (Australia) Pty Ltd (Cardno). The AAPF’s head office is in Pretoria, South Africa. The AAPF and AusAID work across Africa with a number of people and organisations who do not speak English as their first language. It is therefore important to have a panel of translators and interpreters available in both Africa and Australia to assist the program and AusAID in communicating effectively with all partner governments, organisations and personnel.
Key Responsibilities
The AAPF is now seeking highly qualified and motivated candidates to be part of the Africa Program Support Group (APSG) – Translator and Interpreter Panel for the following short term positions:
- English< >Portuguese conference interpreters for work in Africa
- English< >French conference interpreters for work in Africa
- English< >Portuguese conference interpreters for work in Australia
- English< >French conference interpreters for work in Australia
- English< >Portuguese translators, and translation checkers
- English< >French translators and translation checkers
The APSG Panel of Experts is a panel of pre-qualified individual consultants that Cardno can engage quickly to meet the needs of AusAID’s program in Africa. The APSG Panel of Experts will be used for a number of tasks within their area, including assisting a team on travel and meetings on certain activities; providing interpreting services at a meeting or workshop; and/or document translation.
