8.0                 ARUSHA TECHNICAL COLLEGE (ATC)

The Arusha Technical College (ATC) is an autonomous institution established by the Government Notice No. 78 of 30th March 2007 that replaced the then Technical College Arusha that existed since 1978. The vision of ATC is to be a centre of excellence in training, research and consultancy in science and technology in Africa by 2020. In order to fulfill its functions properly, the College is seeking to recruit qualified and experienced Tanzanians to fill in the following vacancies:

8.1                SENIOR LECTURER – 8 POSTS


8.1.1           DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·      Teaches students up to NTA level 9 (Master’s Degree);

·      Guides and supervises students in building up their practical and research projects;

·      Prepares learning resources and design training exercises for students;

·      Conducts consultancy and community services;

·      Undertakes individual research and participates in scientific/academic congregations;

·      Supervises and guides under-graduate students;

·      Prepares teaching manuals, simulations and case studies for training;

·      Coaches junior teaching staff;

·      Assumes managerial leadership roles e.g. coordination of academic programmes or major research projects and consultancy; and

·      Performs any other duties as assigned by supervisors.


8.1.2           QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

8.1.2.1        CIVIL ENGINEERING – 2 POSTS

·      Doctorate (PhD) degree in relevant field, with the following specialization:

·      Specialization:

(i)            Irrigation Engineering/Water resources Engineering/Environmental Engineering (1 Post),

(ii)          Civil Engineering/ Structural Engineering (1 Post)


·      Working experience of at least three years in teaching or research and consultancy and has published at least three peer reviewed papers.


8.1.2.2        AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEERING – 1 POST

·      Doctorate (PhD) degree in relevant field, with the following specialization.

·      Specialization:

(i)   Automotive or Automobile Engineering (1 Post)

·      Working experience of at least three years in teaching or research and consultancy and has published at least three peer reviewed papers.

8.1.2.3    ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING – 1 POST

·      Doctorate (PhD) degree in relevant field, with the following specialization:

·      Specialization:

(i)  Electrical or Electronics or Telecommunication Engineering or Bio-Medical equipments. (1 Post)


·      Working experience of at least three years in teaching or research and consultancy and has published at least three peer reviewed papers.

8.1.2.4    MECHANICAL ENGINEERING – 1 POST

·      Doctorate (PhD) degree in relevant field, with the following specialization:

·      Specialization:

(i)    Design and Production Engineering/ Metallurgy Engineering/ Technology Transfer. (1Post)

·      Working experience of at least three years in teaching or research and consultancy and has published at least three peer reviewed papers.

8.1.2.5    TRANSPORTATION ENGINEERING – 1 POST

·      Doctorate (PhD) degree in relevant field, with the following specialization:

·      Specialization:

(i)   Highway materials or pavement Engineering/ Urban Transportation Planning (1Post)

·      Working experience of at least three years in teaching or research and consultancy and has published at least three peer reviewed papers.

8.1.2.6    GENERAL STUDIES – 2 POSTS

·      Doctorate (PhD) degree in relevant field, with the following specialization:

·      Specialization:

(i)            Curriculum and Teaching(Science) (1 Post),

(ii)          (ii) Chemical Engineering (1 Post)

·      Working experience of at least three years in teaching or research and consultancy and has published at least three peer reviewed papers.

8.1.3            REMUNERATION

8.2.1              DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·      Teaches up to NTA level 9 (Master’s Degree);

·      Prepares learning resources and design training exercises for students;

·      Conducts consultancy and community services;

·      Develop and review existing curriculum;

·      Undertakes individual research and participates in scientific/academic congregations

·      Prepares teaching manuals, simulations and case studies for training;


·      Coaches junior teaching staff; and

·      Performs any other duties as assigned by supervisors.


8.2.2              QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

·      Doctorate (PhD) degree in relevant field, with the following specialization:

(i)      Irrigation Engineering or Agricultural or Environmental or Ecological Engineering (1 Post)

(ii)  Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering (2 Posts)


8.2.2.2    AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEERING – 1 POST

·      Doctorate (PhD) degree in relevant field, with the following specialization:

·      Specialization:

(i)   Automotive or Automobile Engineering (1 Post)


8.2.2.3    ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING – 2 POSTS

·      Doctorate (PhD) degree in relevant field, with the following specialization:

(i)  Electrical or Electronics or Telecommunication Engineering (1 Post)

· Assists in conducting tutorial and practical exercises for students under close · supervision;

· Prepares learning resources for tutorial exercises;

· Assists in conducting research under close supervision;

· Carries out consultancy and community services under close supervision; and · Performs any other duties as assigned by supervisor.

8.5.2           QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in relevant field.

· Specialization:

(i)            Architecture (1 Post),

(ii)          Land Survey and Geomatics (1 Post),

(iii)         Agronomy (1 Post).

·      At least five (5) years working experience.


8.5.2.2    AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEERING – 1 POST

·      Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in relevant field.

·      Specialization:

(i) Heavy Duty Equipments and Trucks or Automotive/Automobile Engineering     (1 Post).

·        At least five (5) years working experience.


8.5.2.3    ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING – 2 POSTS

·      Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in relevant field.

·      Ordinary Diploma who has a working experience of at least three years in related field. Or

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in relevant field.

·      Specialization:

(i)   Civil Laboratory Science and Technology/ Water quality (1 Post),

(ii)  Laboratory Science and Technology/Soil & Plant (1 Post),

(iii) Water Resources or Hydraulics Engineering (1 Post),

(iii) Agronomy (1 Post).

8.7.2.2    AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEERING – 3 POSTS


·      Ordinary Diploma who has a working experience of at least three years in related field. Or

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in relevant field.

8.8               INSTRUCTOR I /GAMES TUTOR GRADE I – (1 POST)

8.8.1           DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Coaches games and sports

· Promotes sports activities for both staff and students

· Assisting in Advising Estates Department on infrastructure of play grounds · Assists in taking charge of play grounds, sports and equipment.

· Teaches physical education

· Performs any other duties assigned by his/her seniors.


8.8.2           QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

·      Bachelor degree in Physical Education and Sports

·      Working experience of at least three years in a similar position.


8.8.3            REMUNERATION

8.9                 ADMISSION OFFICER GRADE II -1 POST

8.9.1        DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Responsible for the implementation of the College’s admission policy, rules and procedures · Responsible for keeping proper records of all students’ admission matters.

· Performs any other duties assigned by his/her seniors

8.9.2          QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

· Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent



·      At least three years of teaching and academic administration experience in a recognized institution.

·      Must be a computer literate
