The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) is seeking to recruit a qualified, motivated and experienced WASH Specialist who will be responsible for planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the Water component within the YCSD programme.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support and contribute to the development of harmonised WASH sector wide guidelines, in keeping with the Joint Assistance Strategy and National Poverty Reduction Strategy.
- Participate in consultation and national coordination meetings with national and international agencies working in the WASH sector to exchange information and facilitate harmonization and complementarity of initiatives.
- Provide support and inputs to the national Sanitation & Hygiene sector dialogue, policy and strategy development and operational capacity to scale up implementation
- Contribute to the preparation of Situation Analysis by compiling data, analyzing and evaluating information, and writing chapters of the analysis.
- Undertake field visits to monitor programmes, and conduct periodic programme reviews with government counterparts and other partners.
- Participate in the development of WASH workplans, ensure progress towards agreed objectives and facilitate intersectoral programming.
- Assist Government authorities and partners to identify capacity development needs and objectives and to design, plan and organize capacity development strategies and interventions for the purpose of programme strengthening, ownership and sustainability.
- Coordinate with Operations/Supply staff on supply and non- supply assistance activities, ensuring proper and timely UNICEF and Government accountability. Certify disbursements of funds.
- In collaboration with other programme colleagues, assist in development of appropriate communication and information strategy to support and/or advocate for programme development.
- Ensure the accurate and timely input of project information in computerized programme management system and the issuance of status reports for monitoring and evaluation purposes
EDUCATION: Advanced University degree in Social Sciences or a related technical field; having experience in Basic Education programming will be an added advantage.
WORK EXPERIENCE: Five years progressively responsible professional work experience at the national and international levels in programme management, monitoring and evaluation, in a related field.
LANGUAGE: Fluency in English and Kiswahili
