Process Technician
Reporting to the Production & Process Officer, the Process Technician will develop and revise operation procedures in line with operational realities and guides the CCR operators, cement mill operators and attendants in implementing the plant operating procedures.
Responsibilities
- Guide and supervise operators in implementing and maintaining the use of the mill operating procedures
- Keep the mills operating at the target output levels by conducting constant checks on operating parameters
- Participate in identification of training needs and conduct training sessions for the operators and attendants to acquire specific skills to be able to operate their plants efficiently and effectively
- Give operating instructions to the operators; and
- Carry out tests to identify and solve mill-operating deficiencies and therefore maintain plant output at target levels.
- A Bachelors degree in Chemical or Process Engineering
- At least 5 years working experience in cement industry, 3 of which should be in process optimization
- Good ICT, communication and negotiation skills

Production Process Officer
Reporting to the Technical Manager, the job entails applying approved production policies and procedures through coordinating and managing the production process, to meet specified quality and plant production targets at set times, and to ensure a safe and efficient cement manufacturing process.
Responsibilities
- Defines the long-term plan, the 3-year technical plan and improvement action plans for the whole plant
- Generates annual and monthly production programmes and adjusts them as necessary
- Prepares and submits annual production budgets
- Determines the adjustments and modifications necessary in process management to optimize performance and the quality of products
- Co-ordinates the inspections, visits and repairs of production plant equipment with the maintenance officer
- Plans technical shutdowns with other department
- Ensures compliance with the standing instructions for use of plant equipment and machinery through regular monitoring;
- Participates in drawing up Technical safety rules; and
- Optimization of the plant equipment performance.
- A degree holder in Basic Engineering registered with ERB or IEK

Laboratory Technicians
10 Positions
This position reports to the Quality Control Officer. The Laboratory Technicians are required to sample, prepare and perform specific analysis raw materials, coal, clinker and cement, and to ensure that all the products meet the set product quality specifications.
Responsibilities
- Design, construct and calibrate test spectrometer programmes
- Check accuracy of equipment regularly
- Implement required laboratory standards, prepare and analyze the average sample and key in results in required format within specified times
- Confirm compliance with standard specifications and safety standards and prepare monthly records of test results
- Check the efficiency of various sampling stations in the works and laboratory equipment and communicate any malfunction; and
- Report and record all operational incidences that affect quality and ensure that appropriate corrective action is taken.
- A minimum of a Higher National Diploma in Analytical Chemistry, a basic first degree will be an added advantage.

Quality Control Officer
Reporting to the Technical Manager, this role ensures that all the chemical analysis and physical testing carried out within the plant are perfectly reliable.
He/she will be required to conduct physical and chemical analysis in order to determine whether the raw materials, semi-finished and end products comply with the required specifications norms and internal specifications.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement relevant key quality indicators and review them up regularly
- Ensure required standards and procedures for sampling, preparation and analysis are consistently met
- Support lab technicians and operators in the interpretation in case of unexpected values and check the reliability of the analytical results
- Analyze trends and control charts of monitoring samples.
- Ensure effective implementation of Savannah Cements’ Quality Technical Standards that deal with measurements; and
- Check and ensure that the end products comply with the company specifications and the required standards before dispatch.
- A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering with a professional qualification in Analytical Chemistry. A Masters degree will be an added advantage.

Stores Controller
Reporting to the Business Performance Analyst, the Stores Controller is charged with inventory control and ensuring both internal & external user requests are properly serviced, maintaining optimal stocks while enhancing best practice controls and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Develop and ensure proper control measures and procedures are maintained
- Monitor compliance and reviewing adequacy of the procedures
- Ensure all material movements (consumption, receipts, returns, downgrades, adjustments, scrapings) for all stock are properly documented in the ERP
- Perform reconciliations between sales, packing plant dispatches and weighbridge reports for outbound logistics and reconciliation of inbound logistics between receipts and actual supplies
- Set re-order levels and ensure stock requisitions are done on a timely basis
- Evaluate and challenge stock replenishments and user requirements to control excesses and maintain optimal stock holding
- Develop a stock count calendar covering cyclical and annual counts, oversee these counts to ensure correct procedures are observed
- Review the weighbridge operations and reports to ensure compliance to internal controls and best practices.
- Ensure proper custody of stock while ensuring good housekeeping of the warehouse
- Manage the weighbridge teams to ensure high service levels; and
- Prepare monthly and periodic end-of period reports on stock movements, exceptions, and key highlights.
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a business related field with professional qualifications in stores management, logistics, production or other plant operations
- Minimum 3 years experience in a reputable commercial organization with exposure to most or all the above job requirements

Business Performance Analyst
Reporting to the Head of Finance, the Business Performance Analyst is responsible for cost management, timely and accurate business performance reporting, collating data for budgeting and forecasting purposes and reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Collation of data for the preparation of annual budgets, and forecasts
- Generating company reports such as management accounts, and addendum reports on COGS, SGA, CAPEX, and collation of pertinent explanations for variances from expectations
- Stock management via the stock control function, and coordination with the Production and Quality Control department
- Supervision of the Sales Administrator to ensure accuracy in invoicing, monthly preparation and dispatch of customer statements and timeliness in collection
- Working with the Head of Finance on implementation of accounting policies and procedures to meet both current and future business models
- Liaison with external auditors during the annual audit process. The jobholder is also responsible for ensuring adherence to general control practices e.g. Sarbox
- Supporting heads of department on accounting and management tools and systems such as the ERP, and other planning tools; and
- Coordinating end of month closing and stock reconciliation’s and adjustments.
