OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME : The ITT department's main objective is to provide high quality and cost effective Information and Communications Technology (ICT) services which assist WHO in achieving its mission of health for all. The objective of the Global Workspace Services team is to support WHO staff and partners with managed Information and Communication devices and services that are relevant, accessible and secure, enabling the Organization to work better, smarter and faster. Description of duties: Under the supervision of the Lead (Systems Administration), the incumbent will provide proximity support to the Global Service Centre. The incumbent will be required to work with colleagues in GWS, GSD, ITT and GSC to ensure that software applications and operating systems are standardized and configured based on requirements, and that they follow IT infrastructure security policies and management procedures and that the managed environment is well supported. The main responsibilities include the following (but not limited to): - Manage the proximity support to the Global Service Centre. - Ensure the smooth running of the audio and video conference services. - Install, maintain and deliver all mobile communication devices and services to end-users such as GSM phones and BlackBerry devices. - Lead in the evaluations of all workplace hardware technologies. - Deploy and provide end user support for all workplace core software technologies. - Ensure anti-virus, security patches and bug fixes (or hot fixes) are deployed to all workplace devices. - Participate in the development of training approaches and user manuals of all workplace core software technologies. - Develop and maintain system documentations in the areas under the Deployment and Support team - Other duties as required | |
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS | |
Education: Essential: University degree in computer science, engineering, or information management, or related discipline. Desirable: Relevant professional training and/or certification (e.g. Microsoft Certifications, ITIL Certifications, etc.). | |
Skills: Essential: - In-depth knowledge of all Microsoft Windows operating systems, especially Windows 7; - Extensive knowledge in software application management, configuration and automated installations; - Extensive knowledge in audio and video conference technologies; - Strong knowledge in networking methodologies especially relating to Remote Access and VPN; - Strong knowledge in telephony and PBX technologies; - Good knowledge of Windows Active Directory technologies; - Ability to acquire an understanding, identify underlying issues or causes, and resolve complex problems. Experience: Essential: At least 1 year of experience in the area of IT and multimedia operations and support, including: - Systems Administration and Operations - advanced level required; - ICT User Support and Training - advanced level required; - Audio and Video Conference Management - advanced level required; - Applications and Software Engineering - advanced level required; - Technical Documentation and Communication - advanced level required; - ICT Project Management and Delivery - advanced level required. Desirable: Working experience in an IT environment of a UN based organization. | |
Languages: Excellent knowledge of English both written and spoken. Knowledge of French an advantage. | |
