TITLE: Project County Coordinator
SUPERVISOR: Regional Program Manager
LOCATION: Yambio
Purpose of Position:
The county coordinator is responsible for the overall management, leadership and coordination of the project implementation at county level. He/She will provide ongoing technical support and guidance for routine immunization, supplementary immunization and surveillance components of the project. He/she regularly ensures the project is on track in terms of project deliverables and progress in outcomes. He/she is also responsible for the regular reporting and proper documentation of project activities.
Major Responsibilities
• Manage, Coordinate and direct the efficient and effective implementation and monitoring of the project activities at county level
• Liaise the project with the county health department , WHO surveillance medical officers and UNICEF EPI officers at field level
• Oversee the activities of the Payam Field Coordinators and the Community Volunteers Surveillance Focal Persons at community level
• Ensure the detection and reporting of at least 2 AFP cases per 100,000 children under 15 from the county per year
• Facilitate the AFP case investigation process through the WHO surveillance system
• Facilitate and ensure the regular provision of vaccination services by health facilities in the county in collaboration with the county health department
• Assist health facilities to develop and use operational map, estimate target population, prepare session plan and work plan for guiding the vaccination service delivery
• Assist health facilities to identify their catchments areas that are to be reached by static, outreach and mobile vaccination delivery strategies and provide the necessary support according to the need and strategy
• Ensure the availability and proper use of tally sheets, registers, vaccination cards, monthly summary reporting format and monitoring chart
• Conduct regular supportive supervision to health facilities to oversee the qualities of vaccination activities by each health facility
• Organize and provide training for health workers, Payam Field Coordinators and Community Volunteers Surveillance Focal Persons
• Monthly/Quarterly report compilation and sending out to county health departments and for project support office
• Establish and maintain proper documentation and filing system for project records at county level
• Maintain database of the project activities and accomplishments
• Provide technical and supervisory support to supplementary immunization activities for polio in the county
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
1. A bachelor’s degree or diploma from a reputable university in public health or related field. A lesser qualification with extensive relevant experience may also be considered.
2. Proven experience from implementing health programs.
3. Good understanding of community mobilization
4. Mature and confident to engage positively with authorities at the state and county levels
5. Displays cultural, gender, religion, nationality and age sensitivity.
6. Ability to build strong relationship and partnership with relevant agencies at the state and county levels.
7. Good team player, good communication skills, self-starter with ability to work under minimum supervision and maintain good relationships.
8. Understanding of human rights and protection issues
Other Competencies/ Attributes:
1. Competency in computer applications mainly MS-Word, MS-Excel/Access and MS-PowerPoint
2. Mastery of the local language is an added advantage.

1. This position is based in Yambio County.
